Everyone is so scared of being sued they tell everyone to refrigerate everything and eat it in a week.

People now genuinely do not know what purpose the refrigerator serves, what must actually be refrigerated
>>
If I got space in my fringe I put it in
even if it doesn't need refrigeration it usually stays fresh longer
>>
So I'm going going to put it out there that the moisture in a humidity causes many things to rot immediately which would otherwise dry out very slowly, things you couldn't really care if they dried out, like parmesan, which turns to shit in the fridge.

Hard vegetables like beets will last months in a root cellar. Like 8,12, 16 months. But in a fridge they dry out and collapse in two weeks, even in the chiller.

Sealed jars and cans, things you bought that were not in the fridge when you bought them. Don't make your poor fridge keep all that dead weight cold, the cans and jars aren't even designed for the cold it makes your jars hard to open and can hurt the quality of the contents.

yeah let me just throw my carrots into my fucking root cellar
