>>20981588Should've brought your own food. Maatjes are cured young herring but they're out of season. They still sell them though, with too much salt to mask the fact that they're not good any more. They still make you pay the same price though. And with that you know everything there is to know about Dutch "cuisine" mentality. The only outstanding product they have is smoked eel. Their cheese is shit unless you can find a loner 80yo Don Quixote who still does things the same way they were done 150 years ago, don't fall into that trap. All of their typical dishes come from elsewhere and are better in the country of origin, with the exception of "hete bliksem" ("hot lightning"): 50/50 potatoes and onions&apples. It's inedible.Your best bet is to find an Indonesian or Surinamese restaurant, of which there are many and some are very good. Plus you won't get charged ridiculous prices.

Worst food in europe. Lived there for 5 years in a town of 200k people and there wasn't a single good pizza place in the entire city. Even the doner was fucking ass. 2 butcher shops in the entire city and they were both halal. Dutch people do not like eating food.
