How unhealthy is alcohol compared to sugar and seed oils? How many grams of sugar or seed oil is equivalent in badness to one unit of alcohol?
>>
>>20983108
Ask your liver.
Also seed oil is the new buzz term and its already annoying as fuck.
>>
about tree fiddy
>>
>>20983109
Would I live longer if I drank one beer per day and no sugar, or one coca cola per day and no alcohol?
>>
>>20983108
People have been drinking alcohol for thousands of years if not longer. As long as you’re not getting yourself blackout drunk on vodka every night, alcohol is probably healthier that processed sugar crap. Consider the less healthy countries of the world, it’s never drinking culture that causes these health problems

The problem you’d get from wine is lighter pockets. If you only drank wine and water and drank it every day you’d probably be healthier than most soda drinkers
>>
>>20983115
The latter.
>>
>>20983115
No clue, every body responds differently.

Either way you will end up with a chemical addiction and you swap to sugar free soda you'll end up with a habitual addiction
>>
>>20983128
Alcohol is literally processed sugar crap. Yeast eats sugar, shit alcohol, and the alcohol is further processed via distilling and possibly infusing it with various flavors
>>
>>20983108
Alcohol is actually really healthy for you. It disinfects your body and internal organs and keeps them preserved, so they don't develop infections which are the real source of all disease.
Big pharma just wants to convince people to abandon the truest basic health tonic given by God in favor of their artificial poisons.
>>
>How unhealthy is alcohol compared to sugar and seed oils
well, two are foods, one is a literal poison
>>
>>20983108
Alcohol is ok for liver/hormones/whatever, but the real problem is that it basically acts on EVERYTHING in the brain. Brainwise, it's unironically better to get high on e or cocaine or heroin because that stuff disregulates just one or two receptors. Alcohol attaches to EVERYTHING and fucks over EVERYTHING.
>>
>>20983400
>abandon the truest basic health tonic given by God
God made consumption of alchohol prohibited btw
>>
Even if alcohol was completely harmless, the 21st amendment would still be a historic mistake.
>>
>>20983539
>god makes chemical
>then makes ingesting chemical prohibited
the fuck is his problem?
>>
>>20983163
What point are you even trying to make?
>>
>>20983539
God literally turned water into wine. If that's not an endorsement of alcohol I don't know what is
>>
>>20983108
1 gram of oil is 9 calories
1 gram of pure alcohol is 9 calories.
>>
>>20983539
No He didnt. Being a drunkard is not the same as drinking in healthy proportions.
>>
3.87 calories for 1 gram of sugar.

>>
>>20983108
I don't think badness is a measurable scale.
>>
>>20983767
Subjective attempts can be fairly made. I can ask whether you'd rather have the health effects of 3 beers per day or 3 colas per day and you will think about which one is worse.
>>
>>20983588
>drinking in healthy proportions
So no drink that contains ethanol, then.
>>
>>20983151
This. It depends on your individual physiology and environment
>>
>>20983669
doesn't matter, is still has the same calories are cooking oils. if you drink 1 one liter bottle of 80 proof that's 3600 calories
>>
>>20984466
>if you drink 1 one liter bottle of 80 proof
You would die, if you didn't throw up and pass out halfway through.
>>
>>20984674
that's a fairly small amount of vodka for an average sized person I'd say
>>
>>20984690
An average sized Russian, maybe, but not a human being.
>>
>>20983108
>alcohol
moderate alcohol is cardioprotective, FACT, whether you add the antioxidants in wine is up to you, but there is little wrong with it in moderation 1-2 max per day unless of course you have existing medical issues or problems with addiction.
Eat this or that comparisons to oils, simply do not apply.
>>
>>20984693
I'm an American and I regularly drink a liter of 80 proof vodka in a single day. I've done it at least 1500 times give or take and I'm still not dead yet.
>>
>>20984711
A liter is almost 34 ounces. With a standard drink being 1.5 oz. of 80 proof spirit (40% ABV), that's about 23 drinks. Apparently, from some light Googling, that's not enough to actually kill most people, but dangerously close, and I don't think your liver is sending you any love letters either way.

Alcohol is ultimately more damaging than sugar. Obviously some people can get their insulin levels fucked up and get diabetes, but it doesn't happen to everyone. Alcohol has debilitating effects over time.

If it's useful as a fuel source, it should be used as a fuel source. If it's useful as an antiseptic, it should be used as an antiseptic. If it's useful for pain relief, it should be used for pain relief.

All of these are specific use-cases that do not benefit from just anyone over a certain age being able to purchase it for their own personal consumption.

It's natural though. Not the same has refining canes or corn into a sweet syrup and mixing that with a bunch of other shit to make a drink. Fermented drinks can only be so concentrated

>>
>>20985988
"Natural" is a gay argument because there's plenty of poisonous plants that are natural and will kill you. But what is true is that humans literally evolved to drink alcohol and handle it without deleterious effects. Our liver is highly optimized to break down alcohol, and we get calories from it
>>
In demonstrable physical effect, ethanol is really bad for you, probably even in small amounts. But stress and loneliness are potentially even worse; if you can responsibly knock back one or two drinks in a setting that facilitates relaxation and maybe making new friends, the good almost certainly outweighs the bad. But that's about all; you might get some fringe health benefits from a quality red wine or whatever, but very few that are unique, and you'd get many times more of those and similar healthy compounds from tea or coffee (or you could make room in your diet for more vinegar, which has extra benefits and little to no ethanol).
>compared to sugar and seed oils?
Hard to say; I'd guess worse than sugar but better than seed oils, if only because the first two are things we've been exposed to forever and the latter is something we didn't evolve to process at all. But getting drunk on Fireball or Cosmopolitans is probably worse than even a heavy meal drenched in rancid frankenfats.
>>
>>20985738
Neither did I, don't respond to me again
>>
>>20986156
Sugar can at least be used as a stimulant like caffeine which can help with working out, alcohol is a depressant and it generally is toxic for your body.
>>
>>20983767
sometimes they're bad, and soemtimes they're bad AF
>>
>>20986156
>In demonstrable physical effect, ethanol is really bad for you, probably even in small amounts.
Bunk science. Muslim countries don't have notably better average population health compared to non-Muslim countries, even when removing notable distortion points (ex. Russia and the Gulf States, for alcohol- and sugar-caused health issues, respectively).
>but they're poor, so they don't have good healthcare
That only serves to reinforce my point. If alcohol was such a supertoxic substance, its absence from regular consumption would've been a sufficient counterbalance.
>>
>>20983108
Moderate alcohol consumption is correlated with reduced blood pressure and longer life.
>>
>>20983626
I drink and I will live longer than you.

>>
>>20988306

>>
>>20983108
Nothing is (ever) as black and white as it's depicted here. There are significant and insignificant doses, cumulative effects, outside factors that increase the risk of negative effects.
If you're regularly guzzling either, you're likely to suffer some ill effects - at the very least, some life-altering diarrhea - but a weekly tablespoon of canola to keep your meat and veg from sticking to the pan, and a glass of white wine with the end result likely carries similar risk to any of the other minor things that might kill you fifty years down the road.
>>
>>20983669
I take a wee 1/2oz nip of azeotropic ethanol from time to time... but, you're right, I dilute it with lime.
>>
>>20983109
>seed oil is the new buzz term
holy fuck what's it like living in 2020? do you think joe biden stole the election or is that a right wing conspiracy theory?
