Bread :)
>>21082194Looks good anon
>>21082194looks overworked/
>>21082194I'd eat that in one sitting with a bunch of butter
>>21082220It's my first attempt, and I did kneed it too much. But it's very fluffy and has a great crust. He's just a lil ugly like his father
>>21082226Just did that with the heel, very tasty. I think once it settles it'll be a little more doughy, but I'm happy with it
>>21082227I'd still eat it tho, just be gentler
>>21082227Good first try anon, maybe you should have left it in the oven a little bit more.At what temp did you bake it?
>>21082308Quality bri’ish cuisine.
>>21082270450 American for 30 mins. Then 10 mins without the cover
>>21082319Yeah I baked mines at the same temp, first 28 mins lid on but then 20 mins without the lid. Good job. Some people like it with a lighter crust anyways.
I think I did ok today... For the German speaking fellows: https://www.chefkoch.de/rezepte/3748011569691684/Friss-dich-dumm-Brot.html?portionen=0.75
>>21082451Now this is a good crust, great job anon!
>>21082308>>21082309This is what happens when you forget the yeast.
>>21082308That bread looks like something modern people would have to eat because of specific wording in their religion's ancient texts
>>21082451Looks good buddy
damn i think ive killed the yeast again
>>21084234You just gotta keep temps above 38 away from it, how did you manage?
>>21084374heated milk with butter and sugar and put the yeast in iti think it was too warm
Anons i want to try my hand at baking but dont have a dutch oven or stockpot Why do you need to put dough in this vessel before putting it in the oven? Why dont you have to do that when baking other things?
>>21084507Those pans are to preserve moisture so the dough rises nicely in the beginning stage of cooking. You can create moisture with other methods, like having a moist towel in the oven, or throw ice cubes, or a contaiter with water. All of this only for the first 20 mins, then take the water out.
>making pan in a pothuh
>>21084507>>21084515Or simply cover with a pan you have at home, or even foil. Scrool to the end:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlRzjaKlfT8
To have continually released steam I prefer tossing in two sacrificial tea towels which have been soaked in boiling water. Seems to work better than just chucking water at the bottom or pouring in a pan.
>>21082451is that pot really thick walled or something? surprised it had the mass to cook the bread so nicely
>>21084486If you heat up the liquid when making bread, the crumb would come out tough and you wouldn't get a good rise in the oven.
Would love to learn how to bake bread like that, any good guides? Everytime I've made it always became doughey in the middle and just looked crap.
i>>21087035Do you have a dutch oven or a stainless steel one or metal pot of some kind with a lid?
>>21087035Look up a tutorial on no knees bread, it's extremely easy. I use a Dutch oven I got for like 30 bucks at Walmart
>>21087184sameMine was $20 on sale. It does an awesome job. >>21087035https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWbl3Sr2y1Y&t=3sThis is the video I watched when I first started making bread and it came out amazing the first time.

How do I get a good crust on my bread? My crust doesn’t really form when I use recipes.
>>21094528Are baking the bread in a dutch oven or something with a lid? Also at what temp? And what are you ratios?
>>21094668On a cookie sheet, about 400f
>>21094674You need something to trap the steam, also pre-heat the oven to 445F for 30-40 mins before baking and bake it on 445F. Do you have a big metal bowl to put over the bread?
>>21094681I have a cast iron pot
>>21094674check out this video>>21087189this anon>>21094006made bread by following it and made a good bread
>>21094683Great, bake the bread inside, first 25 mins lid on, after that take off the lid and bake for another 20 mins
>>21094691also put the cast iron pot inside the oven when pre heating the oven - very important!
