i won’t buy it because of the beeps
>>21087041But it boils water really fast. Throwing stuff in boiling water means I'm cooking right? Look at me: I cooked a healthy meal of boiled potatoes, boiled asparagus and boiled meat that I pretended to slow cook. Isn't induction amazing, emission-free and emission-free? Vote for the green party!
>>21087041i have glass ceramics stove top, i hate that piece of shit so goddamn much. i guess it's made for people who don't know how to cook
>>21087088imagine turning a knob like a caveman in 2025 LMAO
Soulless bugman cooking
>>21087088Those are the worst, with the goofy thermostat that make the burners under the glass cycle. You *can* cook with one, under duress, but it's so painful. I know someone who wasn't a bad cook and was thrilled to get one though, for the look in her kitchen. Priorities vary.
>>21087061I picked up an induction hot plate to have a hot plate, to see what the fuss was about, and for the lulz. They're not bad. The temperature control mode is neato. The 120V hot plates don't boil big pots of water any faster than a gas or 220V stove, probably slower. They regulate better at very low output than a gas stove so great for simmers. Probably great if you make scrambled eggs like Marco Pierre White, which I don't.
>>21087041Humiliation ritual, using anything other than gas is for cucks.
>>21087113Please tell me this is satire
How did induction take over when it is worse than every other stovetop type?

>>21087301cattle livestock mainly heat processed food and boil water for pasta and are generally impressed by gadgety bullshit. they rarely have to cycle between two heat settings to get a consistent simmer, because cooking something for longer than 10 minutes like a stew for example, is alien to them. surely they've experienced it setting itself on max because a nanoparticle of grease or water ended up on the touch control bullshit. but again, they don't cook often or in long enough sessions for it to bother them. the popularity of air fryers was what pushed me over the edge to side with jews. gentiles deserve to be exploited.
>>21087314>have to hold it at the highest setting for 5 seconds so it doesn't turn off as a safety measure>always let go a second too soon and have to light it again

What do inductionfags do during power outages or they're too poor to pay their overdue bill? Starve?
>>21087333We don't really have power outages, even if a station fails every single line has several redundancies. Sorry that you have to live in a 3rd world shithole.

>>21087319>they rarely have to cycle between two heat settings to get a consistent simmer, because cooking something for longer than 10 minutes like a stew for example, is alien to them.my induction stove lets you set a specific temperature so I'm not sure what you're talking about here. This lets me temper chocolate without using a double boiler
>>21087108XX detected.
i hate my induction stove because it heats in a ring smaller than the indicated circle and pulsates at all temperatures except the highest instead of keeping steady heatno idea what this beeping shit is about maybe RTFM
Induction stovetops are cheaper (one-time and in-use) than gas stoves, can be portable, and has a sleek aesthetic. Most importantly: It just works. As a teen I cooked on gas, and it was fine. As a student I cooked on electical, and it was alright. Induction is just improved electrical. Does it matter which one you go for? Not necessarily. But I think induction is pretty neat. Howeverthoughbeit,>>21087319>surely they've experienced it setting itself on max because a nanoparticle of grease or water ended up on the touch control bullshitI hate this with the force of a thousand suns

>>21087431you are retarded, the copper in an induction stove alone is worth more than 10 gas stoves made out of cheap steel
>>21087438I genuinely dont know how you think this holds up. I can buy a TILLREDA double induction stovetop at Ikea for 90 eurodoos, the VILSTA four-pit is 200. A four-pit eletrical non-induction stovetop is 170. The cheapest gas option is over 300. The pricing is not even close because, and I cant believe this is news to you but here goes anyway, GAS STOVES ARE LARGER
>>21087451the cheapest induction stoves use coils made out of aluminum clad in copper. they are invariably shit.
>>21087451the cheapest 4 burner gas stove i see on amazon is 110 euro. if you want a decent induction stove expect to spend over 500.
>>21087399>my induction stove lets you set a specific temperaturegreat, but i've literally never heard of this before.my experience has been with roughly decade old >€5k induction stoves. even worse, instead of continuous lower strength, they cycled on/off at low heat steps. which exacerbated the problem of keeping a consistent temperature with the bare 12 steps. the noise(s) are also annoying, but that's not the main problem. they're not predictable. hate them.

>>21088071Run a gas line tard.
>>21088081I didn't want to fuck with all that. I already was dumping a bunch of money into the house, there were already two 240v plugs where I needed them, and I do think electric cooktops look cleaner on the counter. Besides, it works well enough and has for the last 5 years.
>>21088085Can't smoke rock off an electric stove.
>>21087333I have a backup generator lol.And a wood stove in the garage.

Ive had gas, induction and then propane in my current home. Ill be switching out the propane for induction again as its simply superior; gas is just romanticized because you need some skill and there's a flame; but in reality induction is easier, versitile, safe and fast.

>>21087041I've had an induction stove for 4 years and it's amazing. But the girl I'm with moved into a new apartment and the built-in stove there is unimaginably retarded.1) The buttons to control the stove are part of the fucking induction panel, so they get so hot you can't even touch them (on my stove they are on the side and controlled with dials like a normal gas stove)2) they go beep fucking beep every fucking time you remove the fucking pan from the fucking stovetop (my not-shit stove does NOT make such a noise)What was the design intention between this?THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME KNOW THAT I REMOVED THE PAN FROM THE STOVETOP. THANK YOU. HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR THE THREE LOUD BEEPS I WOULD STILL THINK THE PAN WOULD BE ON THE STOVE.OH WAIT, NO, I WOULD NOT DO THAT SINCE I HAVE TO USE MY FUCKING HANDS TO TAKE IT OFFFUUUUUCK

>>21087301>>21087319you are retarded subhumansit is simpler to clean and it has a "boil" function that heats water incredibly quicklythat is allI literally can not think of a single downside to its use aside from not being able to keep the heat going when the pan is not directly on top of the stovetop, which as it turns out is a technique which does not affect the actual quality of the meal at all

>>21087041For me, it's the beeps>>21087088>>21087266My non-induction glass top stove is the worst piece of shit I've ever used. Temperature control is a mess, burners don't turn on properly or go berzerk and stay on max heat no matter what you've got them set at.I bought a cheap portable induction burner and use it most of the time.
>>21089422BASED
>>21087319No food is worth this much bother.
>>21089422Seeing as you're an experienced hotplate modder, have you considered leaving the glass cover off to maximize performance? Glass has a much higher dielectric constant than air, it's the weakest link in induction cooking.
>>21089194It looks like the oven and stove knobs are interchangeable. Simply using the black knob as the middle of the three oven controls would give the whole thing symmetry and look intentional. >>21088729Over on /diy/ they estimated less than ten minutes to make the model. If he was completely new to CAD, it might have taken him significantly longer but also would have served as a learning experience that would benefit future designs.
What keywords I'm looking for if I want an induction top that has proper temperature control instead of switching on and off to emulate it?
>>21091243As an engineer, lol
>>21088729the solution is to 3d print 7 more knobs so they all match
>>21091012you need some sort of insulation between the coils and the pan you're trying to heat, or else the insulation will melt and short circuit it.
>>21087041that's what she said
>>21091283The air is an excellent insulator. Look how closely spaced that coil is, it just has air insulating it. The air gap to avoid arcing is probably less than the thickness of the glass, so not only can you get the pan closer to the source, you wont have the layer of glass with its poor relative permittivity attenuating the electromagnetic field.
>>21091243just don't buy cheap crap and you will be fine
>>21091446i think he is talking about thermal insulation
>>21091243if you want actual temperature control, you need something like this with an actual sensor in contact with the pan. however any decent stove will use some form of high frequency PWM or inverter control to regulate power. the cycling that you see where the stove turns off for several second just doesn't happen in any decent, modern induction stove, unless the coils are overheating and it is entering in heat protection mode, which just should never happen if the unit is properly ventilated.
>>21091446i'm talking about the insulation on the magnet wire that makes up the inductor (coil.) most magnet wire is rated to 150-200C operating temperature. glass is placed between the magnet wire and the cooking vessel to keep the hot cooking vessel physically separated some distance from the coil. if it weren't there, you could melt the insulation off the coil by means of heat radiating off the cooking vessel. this shorts the coil out and severely decreases its inductance... which causes the current through the IGBT/FET to shoot up -- and if the control circuitry has shitty current limiting, it'll cause the IGBT/FET to blow up with a loud bang and some fire/smoke.
