>grocery store didn't have any real feta from greece>bought canadian goat cheese "feta" insteadI knew it wouldn't be as good, but this doesn't even taste remotely like feta at all. It just tastes like regular cheese. I knew it wasn't going to be the real deal and I still feel like I've been defrauded. Why is this legal?I hate the Canadian dairy cartel so much it's unreal, they get state protectionism and their products aren't even good.
>>21088063sorry
I buy Bulgarian white cheeseIt's only the products that's both affordable and tastes great
>>21088063Do you live close enough to the border to buy in the US? I was surprised to learn recently about how high the level of protection is.
>>21088104No.We do get Greek feta here, it's not flat-out banned (just made expensive as fuck by tariffs), it's just the grocery store didn't have any in stock (but had lots of GARBAGE canadian "feta"). Happens sometimes.
>>21088063greek feta is to die for
Go to a farmer's market and try some of their feta.
>>21088063What is regular cheese?
>>21088063Surely it will get better now that Dictator Trudeau is being replaced with an Indian.
>>21088063You get bagged milk though so it's not all bad
>>21088063If it makes you feel better, most "Greek" feta has been made in Italy, for years.
>>21092892In Canada, the only cheeses allowed to be labelled as feta are actual PDO feta and Canadian feta. All other fetas are supposed to be called "feta-style white cheese" or something to that effect. This is also the case with some French cheeses iirc.
