Where I live you can't get fresh tomatillos, only canned. Bought a couple cans and tried to make a salsa by blending them with a jalapeno, avocado and salt. Tasted like sour snot. What are some good dishes that can be made with canned tomatillos?

Look for a posole recipe

You need cilantro, onion, and lime. I pretty much use it with anything else that goes with salsa, I like the extra tartness.

This. Roast them over your burner for bonus points.

I've got the cilantro soap gene. Is parsely a reasonable sub?

Canned tomatillos fall apart with a touch of your fingers. Gave it another go, used boiling water in a blender to simulate boiling the tomatillos, added in roasted garlic and onion, made chilaquiles verde. Turned out decent as the lack of fresh ingredients matters less when you're cooking everything down.
