New to cooking, tried making shepherd’s pie. Pic related is leftovers. How do I get the ground meat to stick to itself without mashing it into the potatoes? Every scoop had the beef crumbling out of the spoon.

More fat burger?
>>
>>21092653
you could try egg or breadcrumbs like you're making a meatloaf
>>
>>21092653
Why do you want that? You seem to want a solid patty of beef under there. What's wrong with you? WTF does "stick to itself" mean?
>>
>>21092653
Whatever the fuck that is, it isn't shepherd's pie.
>>
>>21092689
But don't tell me you wouldn't devour that whole thing at 2am after a couple minutes in the microwave.
>>
>>21092653
That actually looks pretty good ngl.

The mince literally looks boiled. It looks like there isn't even any fucking sauce. You're meant to make a gravy out of the meat and vegetables with some stock and worcestershire sauce. Don't even get me started on the sweetcorn and cheese.

I wouldn't eat this at all.

Honestly, when I see stuff like this it starts to make sense why Americans think English cuisine sucks. The way you made this is so, so wrong. Everything about it is wrong. It looks like you just mixed beef mince with sweetcorn, vegetables and mashed potato, put cheese on top then baked it.

Cook your onion, garlic and mince however you like then
>Add 2 - 3 tablespoons of tomato paste and cook for a few minutes
>Add a 2 tablespoons of flour and cook for a few minutes
>Gradually add your stock to keep the gravy thick
>When it's all thick and gravy like season to taste and add a splash of Worcestershire sauce
>>

>no seasoning
>no herbs
>no spices
grim

THIS

Blaming The English for the fact that Americans can't make a simple cottage pie.

James Martin does a simple recipe here.

Or find another British recipe online.

You're supposed to make gravy, and not use ground beef.

Ground beef is fine, but there should be a thick gravy.
>>
>>21092970
please dont tell me you actually serve it in those catering ass trays
>>
>>21093317

those go in a freezer and are for low cost/effort meals later. i don't ''''serve'''' them to anyone.

is the concept of freezing homecooked food for later new to you?
