why does every boomers alcohol cabinet always have a bottle of this? was this like the favorite alcohol of everyone pre 1990?
>his dad has an 'alcohol cabinet'if your dad drank anything other than beer, hes a faggot
>>21101200I've noticed boomers prefer Seagram's 7 and 7Up over vodka and Sprite.
>>21101206You have it backwards.
>>21101206Your dad drank Pruno straight out of a stainless steel toilet bowl.
It was mostly people who wanted a cabinet to show off than whatever was in it. 1 - They saw other boomers with it, so they thought it must be good / popular, so they got it too.2 - Pretty cheap for a fifth of whisky. It's one of very few whiskies I can't stomach at all. I shudder to think of its production. But yeah, was either that or Black Velvet, which at the very least didn't taste offensive.
>>21101213no he drinks beer keep up
>>21101200I like it better than Walker Black, and it's a bit cheaper here.
>>21101200in the 60's/70's due to where it was produced and some sort of licensing deal you see it show up in a hoard of Italian movies.
>>21101388lol i was thinking everytime i see a character in an 80s movie whos supposed to be a drunk hes always pouring a glass of this
>>211012087 and 7 was the teen drink of choice back in the 80s. Easy to make, tastes good and will get you a buzz. If you had vodka then screwdrivers were generally your drink. Also long island ice teas and kamikazes if you were at a bar.
>>21101200shit tastes like nail polisht. drank nail polish
>>21101700Find God, or a liquor store.
>>21101206You probably shoot at beer cans and think it's classy.
>>21102713NTA but it's always fun to shoot beer cans when you're invited to someone's house. Being "classy" is over-rated, it's better to be fun.
>>21101206You never knew your dad, and it shows
>>21101200They got tricked
>>21101200The blended malt J&B (a blend of pure barely malts) is actually really good. The only other blended pure barley malt that I'm familiar with is Johnny Walker Green label which is the best of the Johnny Walker labels in my opinion
>>21101200J&B used to be one of the best kinds of booze to get if you didn't want to compromise too much quality for a low price tagNot really the case anymore but back in the day it was brown bag sipper of choice
>>21102729it's always the people obsessed with being "classy" that are the most classlessyou can easily tell it when they're designing shit
>>21103632I guess I should take a look before I just whistle dixie out my ass here, but I don't think Walker deals in single malts... Oh, you're talking about an absence of unmalted grains in there, gotcha.Johnnie always gives me the impression that it's scotch for people who aren't sure if they like scotch. Even red's inoffensive for cheap scotch (not like Teacher's - that's cheap scotch for people who aren't sure if they like themselves)
because liquor cabinets are primarily decorative and people fill them with names they like
>>21105286Mine's like a navel-high hutch with some caps and corks peeking out from a 6x8 grid (and the odd sized bottles and expensive gifts in a 2-shelf cabinet). The only real visible hints about what it is are the cutting board and shakers on top, and minifridge next to it (open vermouths, ice, a handful of mixers and maybe some beer when I'm expecting company). It doesn't come up often, but I guess it just blends into the rest of the livingroom: "On a scale from one to shit, this has been a shit day. You got any grievously terrible tequila?" "Yeah, third row down in the liquor cabinet, right side" "Liquor cabinet?" "That cabinet over there what holds liquor. I grabbed some José silver just for you. If you want something less terrible, there's some alright tequila underneath it."
>>21101208I've never seen anyone under age 50 buy Seagrams
>>21105283I know of no Johnny Walker single malts. Johnny Walker Green label is a blend of 4 single malts. “Blended malt” is not the same as “blended” which contains grain alcohol. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blended_malt_whisky
>>21105329>Oh, you're talking about an absence of unmalted grains in there, gotcha
I don't think I know anyone who has a bottle of J&B. I bought a bottle once because of american psychoto me boomerbrained alcohols are:-napa cabernet-nz sauvignon blanc-argie malbec-novelty cask single malt (the balvenie, etc)-imperial stouts-DIPAs-pointless liqueurs like drambuie and chartreuse (apparently drunk neat)
>>21101206troon hands typed this
>>21105349>imperial stoutsI've never known a boomer than drank any kind of dark beer, much less imperial stouts. They all drink macro pisslager
>>21101206you sound poor
>>21105349>>21105647I was going to ask>DIPAs, imperial stoutsHow old do you think boomers are?
>>21105647>>21105799I do know a handful of boomers who drink macros but they're very rare and very working class. Most moved on to the "craft brew" stuff, along with everyone else, albeit a few years late to the party.
>>21101200It was the first affordable commodity that flooded the stores and (later) supermarkets after WWII. Along with cheap ass Sherry, Sandeman Porto, Cinzano, Cuban cigars and other garbage. You had people over for Christmas and you were able to offer them something they'd never seen before. You were the star of the evening, even though it meant fuck all. Very comparable to your worthless pictures on Instagram about your latest Bali trip, or hot sauce haul, really.
>>21105827Thank you, cultural-history anon.My signature cocktail is a smoky J&B Manhattan with rosemary and black cardamom syrup.
Forgot to mention, this style of blended whisky mixes abominably with soda. Do not attempt. There's some inherent sourness that joins hands with the carbonic acid and drags your taste buds down to Sheol.
>>21107359I just spent about five minutes running this over with the Mazda of my mind...1) I don't know if I'd like it with red vermouth, but I could see it working really well as a black manhattan. 2) Akshwali, wouldn't this be a Rob Roy?
>>21101388Not really a licensing deal, they just gave you a free case if it appeared in your movie. From there it became a meme. Never watch Giallo without a bottle of Justerini & Brooks.
Drank j and b on the rocks for years. My boss would give me a bottle at Christmas. Don't drink that much anymore.
>>21102729not everyone lives in the sticks
>>21103632>>21105329>The only other blended pure barley malt that I'm familiar with is Johnny Walker Green labelthis Chivas Regal is also blended pure malt
>>21101388It's even in Goodfellas!
>owned by DiageoEvery. Single. Time.
>>21108116>It's even in Goodfellas!I don't like that movie because it portrays Italians in a racially insensitive and hurtful manner. By portraying Italians as criminals and murderers, it creates a public image that suggests ALL Italians are basically African-Americans. And Black lives MATTER.
>>21108177Yawn.
>>21108182>Yawn.That's another shekel! Thanks for responding. =)
>>21108116And the Thing
>>21108184You are very dull and this is not a replacement for a personality.
>>21108187>You are very dull and this is not a replacement for a personality.Joke is on you! I said it for the lulz.
>>21108203The Lulz' died in the camps. I'm sorry for your loss.
>>21107461my faggot neighbors who moved out of the city 5 years ago think that because they are 5 mins driving distance from the highway that they are "in the sticks" and do everything in their power to make the people who actually live here hate their faggot guts with all their gay traits.
>>21108167they own most of the on screen brands nowadays.
>>21108185when you're stranded in the Antarctic any bitch will do, cheating or not.
>>21108537A hole by any other name...
I blame Italian giallo and poliziotteschi films. Those movies are fucking awesome. Also other movies. https://punchdrink.com/articles/j-b-scotch-whisky-bottle-movies/
>>21101206>if your dad did powder cocaine instead of crack, hes [sic.] a faggotThe 21st amendment was a mistake.
>>21101208was at a wedding recently and a boomer was complaining to me that they were using maker's instead of Seagram's for his 7 and 7 lmao
>>211096757&7's brand specific, like a Dark 'n' Stormy. It shouldn't be world ending (and most people either wouldn't notice, or wouldn't give a shit), but if you're putting money down, someone should let you know that what you've ordered can't be made to spec.
>>21109700yeah but Seagram's and gosling's both fucking suck. it's like complaining they swapped your glass of piss for lemonade. I don't care if it's correct, I'm still gonna laugh at you if you if prefer the taste of piss.
>>211097817 & 7s are like white castle, yes it's cheap and sucky, but sometimes you just get a craving for it.
>>21109781Lots of popular drinks are chilled garbage juice.if the drink I order calls for piss, and you put lemonade in it without telling me, I'm not paying you for the drink. You didn't make what I ordered. I probably wouldn't go complain about it to some highschool kid on his phone - that's all on him.
>>21110181>if the drink I order calls for pissDo alcoholics really
>>21110508If they're hard up enough? I was just recycling the... jesus, what is that? metonymy? but figurative or literal piss - if it's supposed to be in the drink, and I order it to spec, I expect the piss I'm paying for.To be honest, you'd have to really fuck up my drink, or be a total assbucket for me to not pay for it. I might bring up the mistake in passing if a reason to comes up, but I'm certainly not the type to bitch about something like Maker's being in my garbage water.
>>21110508Order budweiser products? Yeah, some of them do.
>>21101388Not just Italian movies, it was in a ton of movies in general.I remember watching The Hills Have Eyes, and at one point even the psycho mutant lady living in the middle of the desert pulled out a bottle of J&B and started drinking it with the label facing the camera
>>21108177Don't be so angry, Sil'
>>21107461Good. THEY’RE FULL
>>21110953it's too late, anon. real estate jews and rural HOAs have already ruined taxes, interest rates and the general peacefulness of "the sticks" trying to compete with suburban sensibilities with all the new fags moving in.
