Why is stromboli not as popular as calzones?
>>
>>21101503
uhm, maybe cus they taste like feembrap?
>>
>>21101503
The calzone was popularized by an episode from the 1990s sitcom Seinfeld.

There was no episode from that show that featured the stromboli.
>>
>>21101506
damn, it's been months since I saw a feembrap post
>>
>>21101503
that shit is so fucking good

I don't understand the existence of a calzone. it's literally just a pizza that that can burst and spill everywhere
>>
>>21101513
Sorry, I've been busy
>>
>>21101503
Because that's the name of the child slaver from Pinnochio, unfortunate

>>21101514
It's just a pizza sandwich
>>
>>21101503
looks like she's ready to settle down
>>
not american enough. try deep frying it like panzerotti.
>>

My grandmother used to make something called scacciata. It was like a calzone but not filled with cheese. She made it with sausage and broccoli or ground beef and potatoes. Just a little mozzarella and some sauce to hold it all together in a thin crispy crust.
The first time I had a calzone I almost threw up because I wasn't expecting a glob of cheese.

no sauce

I used to go to a deli in Connecticut that sold something similar but the stuffed breads were all kind of gross. Like, some of them were okay, but others just made me wish I had some tomato sauce and the ingredients didn't taste fresh
>>
not sure i could tell the difference offhand
>>
>>21101508
THIS IS THE BEST CALZONE I EVER ATE, GEORGE. GEOOOORGE!
>>
CO-STANZA IS IN THE BUILDING
>>
>>21101503
Wasn’t Stromboli a communist?
>>
>>21101503
What's the point of Stromboli or Calzone when you can get a pizza? Both are just pizza that is more difficult to eat
>>
>>21101503
Calzone has more cheese.
>>
>>21101885
stromboli is rolled up so you get layers of filling, calzone is just a pizza folded in half. many lazy mexican run pizza places don't understand the difference either and just make strombolis like calzones though
>>
>>21101986
is it normal for them to be pre-sliced like the OP's?

i don't think any places around here have these
>>
>>21101503
Marketing, really.
I like stromboli's more, but they just aren't sold as much as calzones are. They're just less prevalent.
>>
>>21101503
i like em both, but id probably perfer the 'zone because its got that rah-got, whereas the 'boli only got mootz typically
>>
>>21101503
costco in the 90s used to sell these really good frozen strombolis i loved em as a kid then they just got rid of em and i was never able to find any grocery store ones as good again. i think i remember s'barro in the 90s also making good ones you can get slices of, theirs used to have sesame seeds sprinkled on the dough

these stefano ones i used to get at stop & shops refrigerated section, were the closest i could find in taste to the old csotco frozen ones, but then those disappeared almost a decade or so ago too

S'barro was the shit in the 90s, sadly they aint the same today, went to one for the first time in almost 20 years recently, wouldnt even know it was the same place from the malls food courts of the 90s. the one i went anyway was shit and had a few sad looking dried up slices sitting there, no strombolis or stuffed slices like in the old days
>>

Really baffles me that America loved that shit even back then but the Sausage roll passed them by.
>>
>>21101503
Stromboli is delicious but cooking it in foil is absolutely a crime.

i ordered a stromboli in Indiana once and it was a sausage sandwich
>>
>>21101880
That looks foul
>>
>>21102665
Sausage rolls are a big deal in Texas and they are way better than what Brits make
>>
>>21101503
>strombolis = parasols
>calzonis = umbrellas

That's why.
>>
>>21101503
My parents used to own a pizza restaurant when I was young and I'd eat stromboli, never had a calzone until more recently I've always been a boli bro they're just better.
>>
>>21101503
Because the inside is damp and wet like the armpit of an Italian pizza maker.

>Why is stromboli not as popular as calzones?
Too much pepperoni, not enough sausage.
>>
>>21103297
That's not a sausage roll and let's not pretend that you've left your state enough to have a valid opinion, sister-fucker
>>
>>21103297
we call them kolaches and there are more in that category than just the humble sausage roll

Dunno, it launched quite recently here in the UK, and is quite popular. They've even got drive thru pizzas here now
>>

as usual texas thinks they are superior and fails terribly. i remember when there was a 2 week power outage due to some cold weather and some texan was on here cooking on a teflon pan in his mcmansion fireplace thinking he was country as fuck and got ragged on mercilessly until he rage-quiot his own thread.

happy memories
>>
>>21103618
That is a calzone.
>>
>>21102665
And we still don't have munchie boxes, either
>>

The big question is why don't pizza shops sell calzones wrapped in a pizza like a cannoli?
