I've recently gained a little weight as a result of my metabolism slowing down.

How can I maintain an overall healthy diet without wanting to kill myself from the lack of good food?

If it's really just a few pounds, find a few small substitutions in your diet that lower the calories in your day to day diet

would probably have better input than us.
CICO is one of the important tenants, just remember that the more you exercise the more liberal you can be with what you eat. I've seen people recommend dropping fatty red meats and going for boring ass chicken, but ultimately you need to cut sugary bullshit out completely, if you can.

Think of it logically, your body is really efficient at burning sugar, and if it can use it, it turns it into fat. Your body's not as efficient at using fat, and it can't store it if it can't use it. Same with protein, mostly.

It's not a rationale to swear off carbs, though, just cut them. (At risk of starting a Keto argument) Your brain really needs simple carbs so having some can make life easier, and helps your liver balance your blood sugar. Candy, pudding, juice, soda and fruit are the worst culprits for raw sugar. Yogurts and stuff like that are close follow-ups. Dairy has a very high sugar content, and most products you'll buy will have added sugars, too.

DASH diet
>No oil
>No dairy
>No red meat
>No added sugars
>No caffeine or alcohol
White meat, vegetables, roots, fish, and grains should be diet staples. Monitor caloric intake.

Just eat slightly less. You don't need to change what food you eat.
The only problem would be if you subsist so heavily on premade slop that you can't even adjust portion sizes. In that case you'll need to learn to cook.

I was always skinny growing up. I was always eating as much as I could to gain weight, and I couldn't. I'd take second and third portions at dinner, snacks, and dessert without a second thought. I'd always order the biggest dish on the menu. When I turned 24, I went from 155 to 205. It took some mental training to realize that I didn't need to stuff my face every meal. That, and not drinking my calories. Now I'm back to 185, which is where I want to be.

This is retarded.
Just stop drinking calories every day, eat out less, get healthier desserts and snacks, excercise a little bit.. You know, be normal.

Guarantee OP is some 27-35 year old. Newsflash asshole, the whole slowing metabolism thing doesn't actually happen until you're like 55+, you're just getting lazy and making excuses
