So yeah, shashouka is pretty good. I don't always like what north africans bring to this world but this is pretty based, thank you.
>>
I have to eat it with toast honestly. It's a bit too much "tomato" flavor for me.
>>
>>21103885
I eat it with toast too. I think that's how you're meant to eat it really.
>>
>>21103871
Yeah it's good, I like it just like picrel on the dried side. Meaning the sauce is thicker.

>I have to eat it with toast honestly
This is literally how you are supposed to eat it. The region it's from, North Africa, eats bread with every meal.

What's your next genius revelation, you have to mix your bolognese sauce with spaghetti because otherwise the sauce is too strong for you?

That or couscous.
>>
>>21103871
I always thought this was turkish or middle eastern for some reason
>>
>>21104328
North Africans don't eat couscous as a side dish; that is more of a French "innovation". In the maghreb, couscous is more of a stew. And surprise surprise, they eat it with bread on the side.

>throw a bunch of tomatoes in a pan
>add literally whatever
genius nobody else could have created this

Shakshouka isn't defined by adding "whatever" to the tomato sauce, it's defined by poaching eggs in it. It's a uniquely tasty dish when done right
>>
I prefer menemen
>>
>>21104331
Pretty big overlap of food there, there are versions of it from turkey, israel etc.
>>
>>21104615
The Italian version is called eggs in purgatory which is good too. A lot of cultures have similar dishes. Similar Mexican egg dishes with salsa that are also tasty.

It's the only time I'll eat cooked tomatoes but undercooked eggs

no ? i'm moroccan and i never heard of this
>>

What do you eat with it?

What? Why? Aren't North Africans the white ones?

It's not even remotely unique

bread

i fucking love shakshuka, never would have expected "le spicy tomato sauce" to taste this good.
i will say though I'm not a fan of the poached eggs, the taste of runny yolks is not something i like and it really doesn't harmonize with the tomato sauce imo. i much prefer the scrambled style of menemen (on top of being much easier to cook) even though it makes the dish look ugly as shit.
i highly recommend using good harissa for spice.

I like runny yolk, but you could cook it longer until it's solid if you want. It doesn't have to be runny.

There's also a similar Chinese tomato egg dish that uses scrambled eggs you might like though.
>>
I love shakshuka and I make it pretty often for meal prep. I really don't think there's any reason to poach the eggs in the sauce though. It takes longer and it's way easier to overcook the eggs than poaching them normally in water or just cooking them sunny side up.
Eggs cooked separately tastes exactly the same, or better.

Nice, here is my I made a while ago

I ate this after a 3 day water fasting. Normally you should start with something like soup to help you stomach get used to food again, but I was too hungry and all of it with self made tortillas alone

So north african chicks are apparently called "beaurettes". I downloaded a porno once where a dude butt fucked a fugly long nosed beaurette who was wearing stiletto heels and nothing else. She looked like she was genuinely enjoying it, and who wouldn't? Somehow imagining her lower middle class upbringing, all leading to a gross balding skeleton french dude fucking her ass, made it hotter. Imagine her hard working parents putting her through school in the banlieue, hoping for a better life and she'll meet a nice young arab man whose parents were doctors back home, but instead she is naked and getting butt fucked for the titillation of internet people.

The thing is, the israelis think they invented the stuff even if it's really of ottoman/african descent. I enjoy it with homemade whole wheat pita bread. Is that redundant? Pita bread? Whole wheat pita, in that case.

They do that with a lot of things really. They pretend like they made the falafel and hummus too.

As far as bread goes whole wheat would be more traditional so whole wheat pita works. But it actually works surprisingly well with naan or sour dough bread with a crispy crust. Haven't tried it with ciabatta but that would probably work really well tooi.

>>21104401
it's usually cooked with vegetables and served with meat/fish on top as a complete meal, kinda like rice in some dishes

tbf Tunisians eat Baguette with everything, even with pasta
>>
I tend to make a more Mexican version with legumes
