What's /ck/s ideal fridge type? /my 20 year old GE top freezer just died and i have to get a new one, i heard bottom drawer freezer style are annoying
I have #3 because it came with my house and it hasn't died yet, but I like #1 the best
im limping along on my Marlboro electric cooler from the 90s
>>21106171Literally anything besides French doors. They make you look like trailer trash.
>>21106171My Bosch fridge is really nice.
>>21106213are talking about 3 and 4 ? or just 4?
>>211062173 doesn't appear to have a freezer. 4 became inexplicably popular 15 years ago.
>>21106188Nice.
>>21106237>3 doesn't appear to have a freezer. The freezer is typically on the narrow, left-hand side.
>>21106214>Bosch fridgesheet them bitches start at like $3k
>>21106171Number 1Always number 1 You can't improve upon perfection
>>21106188Hell yeah.
This thread sent me down a 3 hour rabbit hole of appliance shoppingWhat's with Haier being kinda more expensive than a lot of things now? Are they a premium brand now?
>>21106527They're double compressor and actually made at the bosch plant. I have a 3 door model. The water dispenser is inside the fridge, which I really like. Cleaner finish and an easier fix if it breaks. There's some nice features like turning off the door open alarm once it starts beeping, turbo cool/freeze, good ice, the middle drawer is temp and humidity controlled and you can choose meat, veggie, beverages for it. It keeps the veggies good for a while longer.Otoh it is a little goofy in some respects. It has some weird storage design, and it isn't perfect if you keep wine bottles in the drawers. Overall very very happy with it.
>>21106577They bought GE Appliances
>>21106527It's an 800 series.
>>21106580i know bosch is a decent brand from automotive, never knew they made fridges. Makes sense they'd be a higher end product.
>>21106583what about avanti? they seem to occupy a tantalizing space that is "reassuringly not the cheapest thing possible" but maybe that's strategic
>>21106588Their fridges and dishwashers are some of the best you can get in that medium price range.
>>211062374 works really well for tight spaces. we had a kitchen with an island kinda close to the space for the fridge and the french doors were just the thing.
>>21106588bosch power tools are pretty nice too so it's a brand i would check out if i were shopping for appliances, particularly if some of them are actually still made in europe
>>21106611I got a Bosch dishwasher last year and I've really been enjoying it. Gets the dishes clean every time, and opens itself when the cycle is complete so the dishes dry better.
>>21106171I have number 1, but ideally I just want a combo walk in fridge/freezer.
>>21106171side-by-side. i use the ice/water dispensers a lot and the bottom freezer models have shitty ice makers.
>>21106638>use the ice/water dispensers a lotGross. When I had one, I hated it. I always changed the filter at regular intervals, and my tap water doesn't even taste that bad, but it always came out gross tasting. A dedicated counter top ice maker and a zero water pitcher has done a much better job for me.

If your going with popular models (Frigidaire, LG, Samsung, Whirlpool etc.) always go with the simple two door design pictured on the far left. Drawers are inconvenient to clean and the more moving parts you have the higher probability something is going to break. All the little compartments inside the fridge look neat, but their usually made from cheap plastic and make cleaning any spills an absolute chore.Conventional design is easy to dissemble and clean and uses the fewest moving parts.
>>21106715Fuck Samsung fridges.
>>21106171I think the future is having a chest fridge and a chest freezer that are separate
>>21106171For the love of god don't get a top freezer, this isn't the 20th century anymore the decrease in efficiency is no longer enough of a reason to have to bend down everytime you want to reach for non-frozen stuff (90% of the time). Got a bottom freezer after my top freezer kicked the bucket, never looked back.
>>21106171Yeah I don’t like the bottom drawer freezer, collects all kinds of crud.
>>21106648> counter top ice maker europeons do wat now? just stick a ice cuber tray in the freezer
>>21106715i was watching a youtub repairman to see if my fridge was fixable (its not) and he basically said the same thing as you and that most newer fridges are shitting the bed after only 5 years
>>21106813Ice fragments everywhere.
>>21106835>oh no sharp water
>>21106813Can yuropoors even afford a secondary appliance for the luxury of producing ice? >using a plastic tray to wait for water to freeze Do you live in a favela?
>>21106835>OHH NOOO ICE FRAGMENTS IN THE FRIDGE NOOOOO WHYYY? HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE?
>>21106171Two or four. I use the refrigerated section far more than the freezer section so that's the part I want elevated to eye level. Four can be nice if your refrigerator is in a space with limited clearance. The door mechanism is more prone to developing issues as the fridge ages.
>>21106981wouldn't a side by side be the best for that philosophy?
in yurop it's 3 but both sides are large or 1 but the freezer at the bottom. the other designs seem pointless or annoying
