I absolutely hate "frou frou" food, food shouldn't look pretty, cute, elegant, etc, it should look seared grilled and charred etc

Also. there is a philosophy that says that the good appearance of food can actually improve its taste. There is a phrase for this, but I can't remember it right now. Supposedly, it has some sound psychological and scientific underpinnings.
