So my gf always gets in my way when I'm cooking and she's trying to hand me stuff or messes up my flow. How do you make cooking a fun activity for a couple? I don't trust her much with a knife so I'm not sure if I can ask her to prep foods for me, so even without heat it's iffy, idk if there's a good way to train her. Any ideas? I end up yelling at her to go away cause I'm timing food along the way or she bumps into me.

I wouldn't know, my sister/wife's a better cook than me
>>
>>21106935
Your wife is your sister? Hot
>>
Make something simple like tacos and show her how to do something before you have her do it. Also clean up together, because women are fucking nightmare in the kitchen.
>>
Delegate tasks. Give her something simple she can do while being out of your way. Nothing pisses me off more than when I'm doing something in the kitchen and my wife decides to walk all over the place because she has the idea that if I'm in the kitchen she wants to be there too but all she does is get in my way doing things that aren't even relevant to what we're cooking.

That and just spend a lot of time doing all the prep work together so you can help her with how to use a knife without it interfering with the time table. You'll just have to accept that something that should take 15 minutes will take an hour at first.
>>
>>21106953
It will be like a live action cookalong.
>>
>>21106953
treat her like a child(because she is one) and discipline her like her daddy(because you're him now)
>>
>>21106975
>her daddy
Gross, i'm not a mexican who gets off on the AYYY PAPI bullshit. I hate that.
>>

this
>hey chop this
>keep stirring this until it boils
>grab and peel half a dozen potatoes for me
>turn that tray around in the oven and baste it for me
any task you'd give an 8 year old you can give her. grab a cheap mesh butchers glove from amazon if you don't trust her chopping.
once you run out of easy shit? you thank her for doing all the hard work and its just a bit of stirring for you now, but can she pour you a drink and pick the music and also how was your day? was janet a bitch at work again?

Same, the biggest fights we have are about cooking. She also does this thing where she watches a 15 sec tik tok video and tries to make something and when it comes out like shit, she gets mad at me for pointing out you can't learn a recipe from a 15 second clip.
>>
>>21107214
>once you run out of easy shit?
You can progress from there unless you're a shit teacher.
>>
>>21106932
start with getting her into some simple prepwork with the knife
>stand behind her
>hold her hands
>catpaw the veggies with one hand, proper grip on the knife, etc.
>choppan slowly
there, you can even nibble on her ear or something
>>
>>21106932
why are you doing woman work? pussy
get one if your bitches who can cook and her show your gf how dumbass
>>
>>21107238
Do you get an erection when you see other erections? Oh, you're such a slut
>>
>>21107238
>why are you doing woman work?
Do you need a woman to cook for you? What kind of man are you if you can't cook better than a woman. You're a toddler that needs mommy to feed you. Pathetic!

Same anon, also it amazes me that she really like my cooking but has no interest in learning the techniques and is not curious how I made the dish taste like that.
>>
>>21107230
you build up her skills over time, but this is the starting point. the first month or so there's a natural ceiling she'll stop at while you work on the basics.
>>
>>21107238
Because they suck at cooking.
>>
>>21107214
>let her pick the music
next you'll be saying you let them operate motor vehicles too.
>>
>>21107238
Women are, on average, worse cooks than men because: 1) they aren't as adventurous, so they tend to avoid new/unfamiliar flavors; 2) they eat less than men, so they lack the tasting experience.
>>
>>21107474
They eat less than men? lol
>>
>>21107756
What does that have to do with it? It's more of a modern woman thing. Both my grandmas are amazing cooks. And every meal made by a granny I've had tastes superb.

Mise en place is the key. Prepare everything before and you're not in a hurry where you could fuck things up.
I let my gf weigh everything (she especially enjoyed herbs and spices for some reason which is quite annoying), peel vegetables, cut everything that don't has to be fine, trim meat and especially fish etc. After everything is prepared, cooking is quite easy and the flow can't be fucked up.
>>
>>21107887
The problem is women usually need to be monitored or they'll cut their fingers off. What spices is your gf measuring, I just sprinkle to taste
>>
i hate how hopeless modern women are
>>
i do not permit women in my kitchen (or house for that matter)
as they are inferior cooks compared to me and i do not trust them not to fuck it all up
>>
My husband does this, just have them mince garlic. It's time consuming to decipher a bulb of garlic peel it and mince. Just have them make garlic bread, cooking the garlic at low heat on the stovetop to cook it to mush before adding to butter and spreading it tell them to stir constantly, it pins them to the one spot either way. Busy work.

This. A million times, this.
I’ve trained what feels like a million new hires in all positions (who have obviously lied on their applications kek).
Fuck, I trained two people today and it wasn’t even my job, I guess I’m just helpful by nature (and management sucks at their jobs. I should demand another raise)
Start off by picking something simple with a semi-decent amount of prep (maybe stir fry, idk), and show her how to properly peel and cut vegetables, maybe even get into velveting meat.
Be kind, acknowledge that mistakes are not the end of the world, and show how to properly do something (explaining why you do it that way), and then let her try while you observe.
Make sure to include food safety.
If there’s a mistake, politely correct it and run back the “why” of it, and how to avoid it happening again.
This whole art, much like any, revolves around learning from your mistakes, but a good teacher can really speed things along.
Mention that they’re learning from your mistakes, so that they won’t have to make them in order to figure out how to do something most efficiently.
It’s transferring experience and saving them trial and error.
At the end of the day you should have all your mise laid out, and then spend a short amount of time actually cooking (the part that’s annoying to do tandem).
You’ll spend a decent amount of time together, and if you’re not a shit teacher and don’t destroy your relationship, she’ll hopefully learn a thing or two and will be able to participate without supervision moving forward (you guys can still be talking, just not minding over one another doing a single task).
Worst case scenario, she’ll have a little more respect for the craft after realizing how much actual work goes into it.
Best case scenario, you train yourself a competent sous.

(disclaimer: actual worst case scenario, you ruin your own relationship because you’re a shit teacher)
>>
>>21106932
Teach her how to cook, bro
>>
god damn y’all some sexist fucks, just treat them like any new hire.
how many incompetent new hires have you had to whip into shape?
probably a lot if you actually work in a kitchen.
obviously don’t sentence them to a ten hour shift in the dish pit, but just fucking teach starting with the basics and idk, be nice to your girlfriend as foreign as that may sound to y’all.
christ, it’s amazing any of you are getting laid in the first place- unless the issue is that you both cannot physically fit in the kitchen at the same time.
>>21108367
this anon explained it breddy well.
almost perfectly, actually. y’all might just be garbage teachers.
>>
>>21106932

Just put her in charge of salad making

>Anon I bought seeds
>A shit ton of seeds
Ok, why?
>We should eat more seeds
What exactly do you want to make with seeds?
>Idk I watched someone making tons of things with seeds on tik tok
Thank god it's getting banned
>>
>>21108367
Kevmo posts on /ck/ and this is proofs

They are though. Most mexislop is extremely basic. Some of it takes a little bit of time but it's simple.
