Recently got a rice cooker as a gift, but the thing didn’t come with any recipes showcase its abilities. Any recipes you all know of that translate well to a rice cooker?

Steamed rice.

I like to make rice with my rice cooker.

I'm so glad someone else made a rice cooker thread so I don't have to!

I just got a bunch of, what I'd refer to as, "struggle groceries" for the rest of the month; these consist of mostly name-brand, non-organic foods, mostly carbohydrates like oats and rice.

In the coming days, I'll be experimenting for the first time with my rice cooker that my wife and I bought a while back by adding a fuck ton of rice and eggs and mozzarella, essentially making a lazy, one-pot fried rice.
And I wanna get REAL fucking lazy with it, like, I'm literally gonna throw everything in at once and see how it goes...

I'll be back soon to let you know how it goes, OP!

>mozzarella

My rice cooker has a ton of settings, it's closer to an instant pot. Good for steaming, stewing, simmering, etc. If you just have a rice cooker with just rice cooking function then you're limited to making rice, I guess you could throw onions or sauce in with it while it's cooking though.

Boiled rice lmao

I occasionally make oatmeal with mine.
It also came with a steaming basket but it's plastic so I'm pretty apprehensive about using it, especially when I have a metallic one and using it in a regular pot is just as easy.

I've made pancakes in my ricecooker before, mix up the batter and pour it in and hit the button. Looks like cake when it's finished.

RICE, IT FUCKING MAKES RICE
>>
>>21109071
>rice
>beef stock instead of water
>thinly sliced cabbage
>frozen broc
>frozen peas and carrots
>garlic clove
Then you fry up some chicken and mushrooms and onions in a thick sauce and serve over the rice mixture.

chicken rice congee
>dice chicken
>peel, slice ginger
>wash rice
>sub water with chicken stock
>and double the volume
>mix
>salt + pepper to taste
>turn on rice cooker
>porridge setting
>if one button leave lid open
>garnish with green onion
>soy sauce & chili paste to taste

You can do the same with full cuts of chicken, just close the lid to steam
Just a heads up get skinless if you are bothered by chewy chicken skin
Pairs well with sauteed bok choy, kimchi or other pickled vegetables

Theres this guy on YT who likes to make shit in his rice cooker, I seen him make curry a few different ways. It's not efficient or anything.

>hit the button
Which one ? Duh.

So it should have come with an insert that lets you raise food above the water level. This is how you steam food in it - veg, meats, whatever. I know the one I got with the instapot was absolute shit - it was like some limited wire, no where near good enough to do similar to a bamboo steamer.

Just watch some YT videos for ideas.

Rice
Chicken stock
Chili oil
Curry powder
