A thread for doughnuts. How to make them, doughnuts you like, doughnut shop recommendations.
I'm a simple man, I like powdered doughnuts. Thinking about making some at home but not sure if it's worth all the fuss, never done much baking at all.

Oh, I also love a good filled doughnut, but they kinda hurt my teeth these days, just a touch too sweet.
I really, really like a plain cake doughnut with my morning coffee.
>>
>>21111079
You could try donut muffins, I made some recently and they were very tasty.
>>
>>21111079
Plain old fashioned is the best but they have to be fresh
>>
>>21111079
They aren't difficult but you'll probably need to quarter a recipe if you don't want to eat 2 dozen donuts in 3 days. Stagger frying them so you have time to flip them in cinnamon/sugar when each finishes as they will dry out very quickly when removed from oil. You can pipe filling by putting jam in a plastic bag with a corner cut off. Use the handle of a spoon to hollow the donuts out.

I'm not a big sweets fan, I usually go for the old fashioned but my son turned me on to the maple bacon bar a couple years ago, I will make them myself some day

Sour Cream donuts.
Followed by blue berry and then cake with sprinkles.
But I'm not picky.

I did have a good recipe for doughnuts but it was lost on an old PC. Sorry about that.

I grew up on jam doughnuts like >>21111086
but without the silly face.

Many fresh ring doughnuts are sold in the UK at seaside towns but without the excessive icing sugar on OPs pic. (OPs pic looks dry too) .

We have different sorts of doughnuts in the UK but the raspberry jam is by far the favourite,

We have two main traditional doughnut varieties where I'm from: savoury ones made with saltfish and sweet ones made with lemon and potato. These are the sweet ones.

Saltfish is super crumbly. You break it apart to mix into the dough.
Here's another dish made with it: creamed saltfish. You can see that it's been crumbled here, too.
>>
>>21112232
interesting...
>>
>>21112415
It is. It also proves the point that greasy wop dego """"""""Italian""""""""" Americans don't know shit about us or what we easy since, yes, we do cook fish with dairy.
>>

lmao
What we EAT, rather

Yeah I never understood that, there's a greek dish mussels saganaki which is a tomato sauce with mussels and feta cheese and it's one of my favorite things - it's super addictive, also I like putting a little bit of parmigiano when I make sauce for pan fried fish - it's very good. Also parm or pecorino on shrimp pasta - amazing.
>>
>>21112439
pan seared fish*
>>
>>21111929
Do americans really?
>>
>>21112515
Understand how to mix sweet and savory properly? Yes, we really do.
>>
>>21112544
fair enough, and yeah I would try it
>>
>>21112544
No you don't. You're just toddlers who'll put anything sweet with anything """savory""" and think it's genius. "like, strawberry sauce with mushrooms? Ya toadally" fuck off
