I fucking love soup, what are your favorite soups?
>>21112757there was this red lentil dal soup i used to get at whole foods.
Been eating instant soup this winter, it's alright but there's a lot of saltI just don't have the energy to cook a proper soup
French onion. Can't be fucked to make it from scratch, although I have many times before, but out of a can - yeah
>>21112803French onion is simultaneously the best and worst soup depending on how much effort you're willing to put into it
i am a sucker for leek-potato soup with lots of bacon, or yellow pea soup with smoked ham
>>21112810I'm not sure you can go wrong with onions, it's still edible. But yeah, it takes care. I've tried different recipes, some call for cognac, some for red wine. But I've found white wine and beef stock is the best. Worcestershire sauce is also a must, to break it up a bit. But as I say, it's a ball ache to nurse through. As far as cans go, it's right up there with cream of chicken or cream of tomato.
>>21112823Cream of tomato isn't soup, it's just runny pasta sauce. I'll die on this hill.
>>21112757idli sambar, split pea, lentil soup, peanut based soups.seems like legume soups in general. why are they so good?
>>21112827Well, I'd say that it's amongst the most tasty out of a can, regardless of whether or not it *should* be a soup. I'll shit on this hill.
>>21112841If you can buy cream of tomato you can also buy vegetable instead and get a much superior product.
>>21112850I've always found that it's a bit bland. Tomato is the only non meat soup I'd go for, apart from French onion. Maybe leek and potato. Otherwise it needs meat.
>>21112859>Tomato is the only non meat soup I'd go for*laughs in broccoli and stilton*
>>21112861Hmm. Meh. I wouldn't turn it down if it was put in front of me. That's about all.
>>21112757Lamb soup
>>21112861>>21112863Sorry to butt in guys but I too am a big fan of Cream of Tomato soup and I prefer it over vegetable. Having said that, on these cold winter nights I do like an Oxtail soup. Yes - broccoli and stilton is a nice soup, especially if it's home made.
Not much man, soup with you?
>>21112887post a soup

>>21112757Does Thai curry count?Ham & bean soup if not.
im a homemade beef vegetable soup guy canned slop, tomato and crackersI dont buy "luxury" soup because they cost damn near $3 these days and gay. but progresso had a sale this week for .88 cents a can so I loaded up 2 of every flavor to see which one is best
>>21112757I really like spinach soup, I don't see people talk about it often.
I've been addicted to making a italian sausage soup, with spinach and tomatoes and cream. i tried using potatoes instead of pasta and that's really good too
>>21112796I feel that, certainly better than a pizza at least.>>21112803What’s a good canned French onion?>>21113561>I loaded up 2 of every flavor to see which one is bestThat must be a lot of soups
>>21112757Cream of Crab is my fav. to make and it's easiest of them all. Just a roux, some cream and milk, a dash of sherry, old bay, and a can of crab meat. Keeps well and reheats well too for leftovers. Lobster and shrimp bisque are my second favorites, more work and time to make, but done in about 1 hour. Seafood soup is also the bomb, but it's even more of a pain to make, so I don't do it that often. Pot pie soups are actually surprisingly easy to make and are way better than the canned version. Plus you can top em with mash or pastry crusts for extra flair. Ramen, while I like it, I've increasingly gotten tired of it's salt content over the years (both restaurant version AND instant kind share this problem). Pho just works better for regular consumption.
i've never had what i'd imagine my favorite soup would be>spicy>seafood>thin enough to drink the broth firstif i ever win the lottery i'll make cioppino
Mom once made a "baked potato" soup that had bacon bits and cheese in it, that's the best I can remember.is Gruel a soup? I love ham hocks and neck bones and all that
I really like shark fin soup and I really fucking hate sharks so it's a win win.
