How do I get cheap good quality steaks in this economy inflation is killing me man and I cant afford the stuff I used to

try stop being poor
problem solved
>>

Buy cheaper cuts and cook them in different ways to compensate. I like cooking top round with beef tallow either sou vide or choice steaks basted in a pan.

I'd like to see one of the tryhard tripfags here actually walk us through the legendary Costco Primal breakdown, step by step. I mean, I know /ck/ is mostly about Twinkies and McRibs, but we do notice you anons, the few and the brave, with your cookalongs and your chicken coops, don't think it isn't appreciated. And we hear so much about the primals, like you have to approach the butcher as if you're doing a drug deal, and then you have to dissect the thing like Dexter. Just show everybody the details, let's get it out in the open. (I would do it myself but I have to watch anime.)
>>
Go to the food bank, or less embarrassingly, start volunteering at the food bank. I've volunteered at 2 and at both when we got some good pieces of meat from the grocery stores that gave us stuff, and we got first dibs. In two months my freezer was full. Ribeyes, Sirloins, strip steaks, pork tenderloins, and a lot more will get donated, but we're not gonna just give those to all the Mexicans and Single moms that show up. They get the store brand cereal, pancake mix, boil in bag rice, and maybe some chicken breasts. However, when all our freezers were full, we'd allot some to the beggars.
After can drives when we have to do a lot of work doing new inventory, we have a little BBQ. A steak for everyone that dedicated their time. Last time we did fajitas because we also got bell peppers from an Albertsons. I had two plates of them.

eat less steak retard
>>
I'm not a rocket appliance but some guy on here said you can reverse sear chuck.
Also look at cheaper cuts like rump and flank.
>>
>>21113519
I eat steak once a week

Ground beef on average about three days via things like burgers, tacos, meatloaf

Grilled chicken the rest

Gimme your wallet and your steaks

That doesn't make any sense. You export things because people elsewhere are willing to pay more. People in China often don't trust the food there and will buy food from the West instead even if it's more expensive.

Australia exports lamb to the US and it gets sold at a premium. Brazil exports beef here too because people here can pay more.
>>
>>21114335
>Same reason an iPhone costs $1000 in the USA but only $250 in India.
>>
>>21113519
lentils are a thing

>>21113551
nobody actually cares about food here, we had a creepy loner once run over a deer and take it home and posted pics of his piles of torn up deer parts and guts and blood and like, tv remotes and other household objects strewn all over his coffee table, but that's the mentality you see when it comes to DIY meat, it's not actually people being into food it's gross-out "look how X-TREEEM I am HURRRRRR" stunts of microdick insecurities

>>21113766
I had a phase when I got my first job where I ate steak every night, I guess that's what cured me because I probably have it 2-3x a year at best, it's just not a very interesting food when you discover how much other stuff is out there. steak is some boomer-tier smoothbrain shit
>>
Steal them.
>>
>>21114367
You're ignoring that China has a growing middle and upper class that is willing to pay more for food imported from the West. The prices here are already including the subsidies. Exporting something to sell it for less money is pointless.

Considering you were wrong about the iPhone claim it seems like you just have something against China and India which might be understandable with some things but you're making silly claims in the process.

what is this schizo going on about "elgin" or "eglin" lately, he's in every thread, anyone wanna fill me in on the lore or is it too complex for my normie brain to understand
>>
>>21113519
I heard that you can get them for a relatively cheap price if you go straight down to a butcher shop. You have to cut out the middleman.
>>
>>21113519
I stopped buying steaks many, many years ago due to the price going up. I can't even imagine buying it now. It's fucking nuts. I just buy other meat. I'd love a steak though.
>>
>>21114477
alot of the bucher shops near me are way overpriced
>>
The social contract has been broken.
Do what you will to the chain stores.
>>
get vacuum packs of choice tri tip or picanha
you can't fix round or chuck into anything steak-like but both of those you can just sear and eat.
>>
>>21114975
*also you missed it but a lot of grocery stores put choice rib roasts on massive sales during the thanksgiving - christmas season in the US as loss leaders to get people in the store. You'll see bone-in rib roasts for $6 a pound which you can easily cut into lovely ribeye steaks, so you can load up.
>>
>>21115001
sirloin cap then
>>
>>21115002
*although the place I get it it's literally labelled picanha, used to be a real steal but they raised it a couple of bucks
>>
>>21114490
Literally posted a pic from a beef website showing that beef from the US is still more expensive in China than their domestic beef but ok. Everything claimed about this is being contradicted from actual sources.
>>
By a whole fillet and cut it into steaks yourself bag them up. Get some freezer bags to put them in or even a vacuum sealer. Works out cheaper and you can cut them as thick as you like. Its not hard to slice up it's already boned. Try to get them when the shop has got too many and put some on clearance.
>>
>>21115031
faggot
>>
>most steaks are like $8-14 a pound
>even in my podunk area, eggs are $4 a dozen right now
>ground beef is like $3.75 - $4 for even the cheapest, fattiest blend
It's getting kind of bullshit out here. Eggs were $1.30 a dozen 3 years ago.
>>
You missed the window to get cheap steak over the holidays. This is essentially ribeyes attached to the ribs. You just cut the ribeyes out and make the rack of ribs later.

Just wait till corned beef time and stock up.
>>
>>21115031
>Sorry one single pic won't do
it has infinitely more value than "trust me bro" after basic research proves it wrong multiple times

the only way the end product would be cheaper as an "import" would be if you had some local production of the product there and the labor and/or manufacturing costs (direct materials, overhead, etc.) was cheaper there too

UNLESS IN THE CIRCUMSTANCE OF PRICE DISCRIMINATION

as in, it's theoretically possible (and highly plausible) that goods with huge profit margins in one country could be sold cheaper as an import to another country if your country is just that much richer and the price in the other country is still above the cost of producing the item
>>
>>21113519
Buy whole covs and butcher them yourself.
>>
Once you learn to truly enjoy beef flavor in general, every cut becomes a “good steak”. Some of the best steaks I’ve made or had was just ground beef hamburger steak.
