I have some potatoes in the pantry. They are getting wrinkly and feel kind of soft. They seem to smell fine.are they safe to eat? They look very similar to pic related
peel a chunk off each one. if the flesh under the skin is green discard them as they've become poisonous. if they're still white there fine to eat. you can cut the green spots off if they're small enough.
forgot to mention I am considering dicing them, boiling for a bit, straining the water off, then sauteeing. I thought the boil and strain might get some toxins out.

>>21115316>>21115321just diced one and there was zero green whatsoever.Smelled a little... overripe but not sour or of decay. just like stale starch smell I think.
green potatoes have never killed anyone
>>21115316If they're green after peeling just peel them some more and that's it. As long as they're not rotten they're ok.

>>21115510>>21115440I ate them and feel great. Made some amazing sloppa with them. parboiled potatoes then put into giant cast iron skillet (seared a bit with a tiny bit of olive oil)Browned ground beef in another pan then dumpt into cast iron.fried two diced onions in the beef fat then dumpt into cast iron.sauteed one diced tomato in the leftover onion/beef pan then deglazed with beer. added a cup of water and a spoonful of better than bouillon. added a liberal amount of spices to the main cast iron, a few dollops of tomato paste, then dumped the tomato water deglaze on top and stirred in.Let the whole thing simmer while stirring for an hour. Fabulous.
