Coffee TimeFeaturing the titanium automatic 38mm Tandorio field watch with screwdown crown and even hacking! Which I just discovered. I set the time exactly so I can watch the second hand pass 12 and see the time change on my PC monitor.Highly recommend picking one up. Right around 100USD. So lightweight. Rotor will spin forever; perfectly balanced. Sounds like casting a fishing reel when you flick your wrist.I like cappuccino.
>>21840264No classes beyond the cuppings and tutorials offered by the roasteries near me, bought an air roaster, made some decent coffee with it, then realized the only real way to get that juicy feedback would be to roast enough to sell at a Farmer's Market and have the grim hand of the Free Market decide my fate so I bought an Aillio Bullet so I could roast to that scale.Gonna try some of the coffee I roasted a week ago today and see if it matches or excels one of Counter Culture's premium offerings in a blind taste test. If I do that's the light roast locked in, just will need to pick a medium and dark roast, maybe a gimmicky aneroebic as a fourth offering.

Has anyone here tried liberica? I'm curious about it, but not curious enough to spend a lot tracking it down.
>>21841170Probably. But it would make more sense if the bracelet were also titanium. There are plenty made from stainless if that's what you want. Titanium was a lot of the selling point of that watch because of the weight. But if I changed the strap it'd probably be to an even lighter NATO style one.
Was running low on coffee so I made a stop gap blend consisting of >60% Brazilian Capricornio Pionero>40% Indonesian Java Condiroto RobustaSurprisingly pleasant for such a stop gap solution. Usually I like to rest the robusta for 2 weeks before using to avoid any funky mustiness it but I also rarely use such a high percentage.Has a bitterness akin to dark chocolate but the smell is a bit like green pepper and nutmeg which is disturbing.
>>21841128>Co-ferments are just flavored coffeesIDK I really dig the Cinnamon Anaerobic from B&W.It's kinda underwhelming as pour over but it tastes like a cinnamon roll when done as espresso.

I heard that zishin teapots are seasoned overtime by tea because it's made of porous clay. Do you think coffee will be improved if I use something like that and season it by brewing coffee in it instead of tea?
>>21846266my instinct is no, from how it goes with moka pots. if you go for too long without cleaning the accumulated coffee oils and such, it gets kind of bitter and nasty. could be different with clay vs. metal, but i personally would not count on it. i am curious how it goes if you do end up trying it, though.

I started making my own espresso about a month ago with a Bambino and your typical starter Chestnut Grinder. I just got back from a trip to Australia where I tried espresso from a handful of cafes. >>21851083thanks for reminding me that my life could indeed be worse.hope you have a great day :)
>>21851099anytime bro
is home roasting a nordic profile at home on a budget a fools arrand? I just don't wanna pay for specialty every time I want a bean that isn't bland as sin.
>>21851231>arrand
>>21851245Sorry.. I did of course mean errand.
>>21851261and fyi you dont need expensive beans to do a certain roast profileyou can use trash and practice a profile.just buy whatever you can afford.like home chefs dont need to buy A5 wagyu to learn how to cook a steak a certain way.
>>21851268>and fyi you dont need expensive beans to do a certain roast profilethat wasn'tt he concern. evenness and managing temp matters more at a lighter roast profile, while charcoal coffee is gonna get roasted enough internally and on the surface regardless. I'm worried that I can't competently do a nordic roast, not that the beans needed for it are too expensive. I'm worried that it's a fools errand because I might as well not show up if I doesn't have a ROEST L200 or some shit.
Any kettles that actually get to proper temperature and then STOP and HOLD it?My stupid kettle boils and then cools to temperature and I always lose water in the process. I need a kettle that doesn't overshoot and then come down.
>>21851231specialty isn't even that much. great beans can be $1 per cup.
>>21851375see >>21851287 the concern here is not the price of the bean.
>>21851376Ah, I see. Well you're going to have to experiment with roasting methods, same as brewing.
The landlord gave me a tub of Maxwell House and some shitty tea for Christmas... I didn't think there was anything that would really fix the coffee, but I made some this morning with some roasted and ground chicory root - about 50/50, and it is actually surprisingly decent.
>>21851099This, I thank God every day that I'm not black, latino, arab, Indian (Canadian), or gay
>>21851393>or gay(Canadian)
>>21851401or black(Canadian pham, ong my guy)
>>21851373my kettle has a keep temp button but i have to manually press it once it reaches desired temp
>>21851439I can set mine to hold before desired temp but it overshoots and comes down. there is no temperature indicator.
I don't know what to do bros. I feel like getting into making coffee at home is a meme. Not counting a grindr and a scale, a Gaggia is like 500 bucks, whereas the stuff you need for V60 would be ~100. Like why? Not to mention there are espresso machines for 5k too. What a meme scam that is. Are they 10 times better than a Gaggia? No. I much prefer espresso to V60 as well. I could get an aeropress, but then I'd get FOMO and want a machine. After all that, and at the end of the day, the coffee I make will never be better than what the barista at my local shop makes. She has access to top of the line gear plus she's cute. Why would I ever make my own coffee when I can have hers? She's also fun to talk to and she's nice.I give up.
>>21851482>Not to mention there are espresso machines for 5k too. What a meme scam that is. Are they 10 times better than a Gaggia? No.If you're making more than one milk drink back to back, absolutely. The gaggia has a 100ml boiler with both the grouphead and steam wand using that volume. Without dumping 25% of its cost back into mods, its extremely thermally unstable.>the coffee I make will never be better than what the barista at my local shop makesYou'd be surprised.
>>21851482Just get the fucking Aeropress. If it makes you wanna splurge on an espresso machine, it's not FOMO but just stupid thinking because it's not the same brewing method. And you don't really need that much to brew with a V60 really
>>21851492I was under the impression that the Gaggia was by far the best in that budget bracket and it's better than much more expensive ones.>>21851498Yeah exactly, V60 is so much cheaper to get into. It's not fair. I don't even know what aeropress to get if I were to get onr though (I wont)
>>21851508I'm under the impression you're retarded and don't know what you're talking about. One of us is correct.
Why are so many shops incapable of making a macchiato? They always make cortado.
>>21851514I'm under the impression that you're a nigger. I remain correct unless you post hand to prove me otherwise.
>>21851517Use case for macchiato?
>>21851519Here's ~$2500 in top of the line burrs I've got sitting around. Let me know when you get a couple bucks together and we'll try to help out a young broke.
>>21851535burrtism
>>21851532Not wanting a straight espresso but not wanting a milky piece of gay shit with latte art in either. Worst shit ever is asking for a macchiato and the zesty barista making it into a cortado, because he just HAS to put a fucking heart in it before looking into your eyes and smiling at you and saying ome gay shit with his nasal fruity voice. Use case for anything above cortado? Just drawing dicks on the coffee and hitting on other men?
>>21851517you really expect them to foam milk just for you?take your cortado(the better drink) and fuck off.
>>21851546For me its the timemore c3 esp.
>>21851549Yes the fuck? Why buy these million dollar machines with all these coolass features if you're not gonna use them? I have PTSD fron cortado. Fuck a cortado.>>21851535Sygau.
>>21850593not wrong but man a roest is pricy! and an sr800 is not really as transferable to larger batches
Speaking of macchiato, this alt dyke zoomer used to work at my fav spot. She had elite ball knowledge and made the best macchiato and coffee in general. Haven't since her since summer. Apparenly she had a mental breakdown and got hospitalized. She really did seem disturbed and only looked alive when she was busy doing magic with coffee. Hope she's ok. Shr got replaced with a zestmaster faggot that can't stop shilling his gayass flat whitres. I'm pissed.
>>21851628shoulda got the recipe chief- valuable stuff
>>21851547>request macchiatto from zoomer barista>she makes a cortado because she gets paid $14/hour and isn't autistic or italian>lecture bored barista on the etymology of macchiatto = "stained", and the proper process of spooning frothed but definitely not steamed milk >"sir there is a line forming"Might as well just do it yourself desu
>>21851710She was hitting on you. You should have waited for her after her shift ended and surprised her with roses. This is why you're still a virgin.
>>21851710This except I say ty :) and when she asks me if I liked it after I say yes :) when the real answer is no >:(. Kind of like that one time at the bar when I asked the zoomer bartender to make me an amaretto sour and she said ok but you'll have to show me how to make it. I just got 3 jager shots and went to a different bar.>>21851714The coffee witch dyke was really talkative this one time, talmbout how sad she was, because her gf cheated on her and she was heartbroken and shit. I was like wow sorry to hear that but in my head I was like yeah ok lil bro didn't ask lole. My friend called me retarded and said I should have asked her out. Hell nah.
Cherry is the note for me.
Very high perceived sweetness coff with medium bitterness or normal amount of sweetness gof but no bitterness?
with cuppings, is it supposed to be 'weaker' notes ? some cups can stand out but I'm never 'wowed' the way I am with pourovers It's all mild variations. I guess I need to adjust my expectations but man my palate isn't refined enough for these subtleties.
>>21851081You don't want a drill, you want a driver.
>>21851851It's posts like this that drive me to antisemanticism.
>>21851932Drills and drivers are different tools with different applications.
Please do not try to drive your coffee beans into hardwood or concrete.

goffee time(with cookies) :)tastes like smoke from matches, wet paper, brazil nuts and 100% dark chocolate.
>>21852573Which cookies?
>>21852597home made cinnamon nut cookies(literally take every nut you can can think of and grind it into a powder)as well as linseed and sunflower seed powder.no sugar or other forms of sweeteners.
>>21852615Egg as the binder? Did you add some larger chunks as well? Like peanut butter cookies made from crunchy peanut butter.
>>21852896well by home made i mean made in my mums home by her hahaill ask her for the recipe if you like.but id imagine its just a generic recipe.gluten free flour tooand i make the nut powder for myself to add to basically whatever and i was telling her about it so she did the same and made it into the some cookies.nuts have so many good idk nutrients? and stuff that incorporating them as a part of your daily diet is really good.but eating all those nuts whole every day is tiring so i found blending them and using them as an additive is much easier and tastier as the flavours combine and balance each other out.>Did you add some larger chunks as well? Like peanut butter cookies made from crunchy peanut butter.no, because im lazy and also because i want all the nuts to be in each cookie.and i dont see how you could get an even amount of all the nuts to be in each cookie when in chunk form and still have a good texture.oh i dont use pine nuts because they are too expensive to use like thisbut you could use them to put on top before you bake it if you wanted some whole nuts in there.oh and the nuts are roasted before being blended.you dont have to but i think it helps.
>>21852924>ill ask her for the recipe if you likeI would. Thank you. >incorporating them as a part of your daily diet is really goodI agree. I have a serving of pumpkin seeds daily. >could use them to put on top before you bake itGood idea. Are you doing keto, or is the no added sugar/sweetener just personal preference?
>>21852924Yes very autistic how could you tell.
>>21853076glad to see my rent is still $0
>>21853017>Are you doing keto, or is the no added sugar/sweetener just personal preference?i developed(?) an autoimmune condition that basically means i have to have a pretty restrictive dietand cane sugar/artificial sweeteners + gluten were some of the first to go as they just made it worse for whatever reason.and i was shocked out how sweet so many things in life naturally are once you are on a zero sugar/sweetener diet for a year.so i kinda prefer it this way after all.also there is the silver lining of losing weight and being healthieralso way better skinand i used to dread summer or exercise because of how i would smell but turns out when you have a really clean, pure diet you really dont smell like anything.no fat eitherand as little oils as possibleeven the "healthy" ones.luckily im fine to drink coffee.oh but i recently had to cut out cheesemilk is fine but cheese turned out to be a trigger, unfortunately such is life.:)second coffee nowbut i think i messed upi did 2 blooms and 1 big pour and it tastes a bit to herbal for mejust trying something newi usually do 2 blooms and then 3 small pours after that for about 400mli think this coffee is getting stale thorested for a month and now a week into it and i still have 350g to get throughand 2kg of other beans...i over-ordered over christmas i think.i hope your next coffee is good :)
>>21853122>luckily im fine to drink coffeeThat's good to hear. While reading that first part, I was wondering if you had issues with coffee. How is fruit for you? Dates and raisins are a nice way to add a touch of sweetness to baked goods. And yeah, I agree. You don't realize how addictive and taste-blinding sweetness is until you get accustomed to a "bland" diet. Same thing goes for salt. >milk is fine but cheese turned out to be a trigger, unfortunatelyAll cheese? Damn, that sucks. Is it the protein concentration? Maybe the milk fat? Do you eat yoghurt? >this coffee is getting staleWhen I notice that happening to my beans, I use a smaller/shorter bloom to kind of mitigate the stale flavour. Not as good as properly rested, but it takes that stale edge off. >i hope your next coffee is good :)Thanks. You too.
>>21853158>All cheese?i only really eat cheddar or cheddar-like cheesesso maybe there are some "lighter" cheeses that worki generally dont like soft cheeses tho so idk if it would really be worth it.its easier for me to just say "ok no cheese" and mentally move on.i have a feeling its to do with the agingas milk and cream is still fine.> Do you eat yoghurt?not in years.>I use a smaller/shorter bloom to kind of mitigate the stale flavour.i probably need to adjust my grind setting.ive kept it the same as when it was fresh.ill try going finer next time.

can any Germans recommend some coffee beans? I've only heard that Aldi supposedly has some good beans
>>21854302whats your budget? what do you like?
>>21854272grim
>>21854306i like my coffee with milk and sugar, the beans shouldn't be too intense I think budget doesn't really matter but availability is important, best case would be to just go into a grocery store to buy beans
>>21854311If you don't care about specialty coffee then you would be fine getting something at Aldi. Probably a medium roast. Colombia, Brazil, Costa Rica etc.
