First for mooka pot
>>21995324PISSOUTMYASS
>>21994258>ChemexJust get a No. 4 or bigger filter. Pre-wetting is justifiable with the mass of the folding squares, if you keep using them. >>21995336That cow tool is nuts.
Got a Moka Pot and honestly I like my shitty drip machine better. Quicker to brew, easier to clean up and I can't discern any difference in taste. Also I end up with some very fine grounds in my cup when I use the Moka Pot.3/10 overrated
>>21995324I love this guy. Out of all the faggots on YouTube, he's my favorite faggot on YouTube. I want him to make me a good Americano.
>>21995336Shame it was discontinued

>>21995434buy better coffeeor dont, idgaf>>21995637no
>>21995434Add an aeropress filter, makes it way better
>>21995425>chemexi just use regular coffee pot filters folded into a cone. I'm not paying $50 for some brown paper.
>>21995434the moka is shit
I got nothing out of the Hoffman americano videoSometimes I make a pseudo espresso and therefore pseudo americano with an aeropress but pour over is just better
>>21995960>I got nothing out of the Hoffman americano videohes run out of relatable contentexcept for that scale video, that was good.but when he gets too "science-y" it just falls apart
>>21995960it was a little retarded>sometimes I go to cafes and they don't do drip. the solution is to ask the barista (probably not even the person taking the order) to make hot steam wanded water
>>21995975>the solution is to ask the baristaOne time I learned how to make pizza better so I could ask Papa John to do it for me.
>>21995917seconding this
>>21995981if it was for home drip enthusiasts, they'll just make drip without the $1k+ in gear to recreate it mediocrelyif it was for baristas trying to appeal to people who prefer drip, there's no way for customers to know a cafe is serving steam-wanded water, those people aren't the current base who order espresso drinks and like them as-is, and they'd more likely just add batch brew to the menusomehow telling baristas they're doing it wrong is the least retarded scenario
>>21995994>why is this former World Barista Champion turned large roastery owner/leading home brewing youtuber showing people how to improve their espresso based drinks?
>>21995981Sometimes you just don't have the dough on hand, man.
>>21995324Ctrl+F & no results for Costa Rica, you guys might as well be drinking sootwater with roasted penis.
>>21996028Ok but do you own a Vandola anon. They're nice
>>21996032Looks pretty, but I don't like ceramics for hot food because of the glazes, also looks kinda cumbersome.
>>21996046I would like to do a blind test to see if the claims about the little hole at the back helping with oxygenation (and thus bringing out more flavor/aroma) are true. I've been enjoying mine for a few months of daily use and love it. There's different sizes, but I got one of the bigger ones (~1 liter).
Oh great the third world poopsocks are back.
>>21996000>formeryeah, 20 years ago.and who (just like lance) likes filter more than espresso and constantly pushes anti-espresso rhetoric
>>21996058Interesting anon, so it's like a Venturi mechanism? Y'should compare to forcing gas whilst brewing the coffee.
>>21996061>constantly pushes anti-espresso rhetoricYou don't have to be a sperg you know? You can just drink coffee.
>>21996063>Venturi mechanismI don't think so, at least I haven't heard anyone mention that coffee suddenly flowing faster at the narrow part connecting both chambers is doing something to affect flavor—the Chemex also does that. The main difference with the Chemex is that it has both the small hole at the back and the spout connected to the brewing chamber, so you never have the issue of filter paper sticking to the method. As for how the flow of oxygen into the brewing chamber affects the coffee as it is brewing, I have no idea>compare to forcing gas whilst brewingHow do you mean?
>>21996082Like with a bubbler and a pump, or many small concatenated waterfalls and just using gravity, seen some still designs that use the same concept but backwards,
>>21995324Well this looks pretty legit. Looks like i need to pick up a cappucino cupI hope other anons are waking up with nice coffee too
>>21996278>its uniformi thought that was foam on top that had a little coffee in it. All foam is bullshit, this is just milky coffee.
>>21996278>>21996282>it's still tastes pretty good and has and interesting texture this concludes today's episode of the mukka pot saga
>>21996000did you watch the first 30 seconds of the video you're defending

Just made the best coffee ever by reducing my bloom time by 1 minute
I finally saw Hoff's new videoReally want a warm aerocano now.
>>21996424>by 1 minuteso you have a -30 second bloom?
>>21996428from 1:45 to 0:45.
>>21996436>1:45get faster filters
>>21996458They're very fast. I like long blooms because my roast is very light. Seems like I need to get shorter and shorter blooms as it ages though
>>21995324Why should i listen to this lesbian about anything to do with coffee?

I make cold brew overnight from coarse-ground coffee made from the cheapest whole beans I can source, and then mix it with storebought creamer to take to work. It just werks for me.
>>21995975baristas watch Hoffman too. if it actually produces better results there's no reason they wouldn't at least try it unless they're working at a shitty chain. >>21995960the real question is whether steam-wanded water is better for pourover as well.
>>21996948>the real question is whether steam-wanded water is better for pourover as well.i wonder if you could increase the oxygen content of water by just agitating the hell out of it. when i shake up my half-empty jugs of mineralized water, they seem to get a bunch if bubble but that might not be comparable to the steam wand. is there even a non-industrialized way to measure that?>https://milwaukeeinstruments.com/milwaukee-ma860-galvanic-dissolved-oxygen-probe/>400 dollarydoosoof. wonder if the hoff would bite the bullet on that one
>pourover circle jerk outjerked again by people buying $4000 espresso machines just for the steam wandits gonna happen you know
>>21996997you can get a bellman for less than 200though i suppose its not a very well known product...
Sippin on coffee. Pondering why youtubers youtube.
I just made a pour over that tastes sort of sour... like hot lemon drink. I don't like it. Weird thing is that I used pretty much the same recipe I always do and even the same coffee. It's not specialty coffee but it wasn't bad. I'm not sure I understand what went wrong. Could it have been the coffee itself aging that did it? It was only a few days apart
>>21997031...money and boredom? An assertion of existence in an increasingly impersonal world?>>21997049Are you actually keeping track of your process or are you just spitballing?Coffee won't change very much over the scale of a few days unless it's stored improperly. So it's probably something else unless you're leaving it in an open container on the counter.
>>21997064Yea I've weighed and timed my shit. I guess I'll try Hoff French Press next to sort of get an idea of what this coffee is supposed to taste like once it's been properly extracted and figure out what I'm doing wrong in the pour over
>>21997021oh i know but the "people" im referring to either know and dont care or dont know and dont want to know
What temperature should different coffees be brewed at? I've heard the general rule is ~90C for lighter roasts and ~85C for darker because you don't want to burn the cof. But then I see other people advocating for pouring boiling water on top. So I'm confused
>>21997089>~90C for lighter roasts and ~85C for darkerits actually the opposite
>>21997103oh...
>>21997114just found this...I had no idea that Washed + Fermented existed. I thought all Natural was fermented. Oh no I don't know anything
>>21997122i was just fucking with you btwbut brew temp is relatively low on the list of importance to how a brew tastesgrinder, grind size, dose, pouring technique, water imo matter morelike you can start at 100c every brew but change the grind size a couple clicks and have a greater taste difference than starting at 90c
>>21997122All coffee undergoes fermentation.
>>21997083There are plenty of other factors that influence a brew, as anon has pointed out.>>21997122Just a guess, but that chart's usage of the word fermentation in that context probably just refers to an extended fermentation period compared to more conventional processes.
I wonder what Lance has to say about watered down espresso
>>21997188I thought that was his gimmick
>>21996377but I like feeling anxious and overstimulated
I'm in Copenhagen tomorrow, is April the place to visit or has it been supplanted as the master hispter shop?
>>21997655Why do you care? Just go. They also have a few locations.
>>21997655go to the coffee collective too while you are there
>>21996948I think he said in the video that water from a kettle is good, so I think the steamed water is just a convenient way to do it without needing a kettle. With filter you'd be using a kettle anyway, so doubt there's much of a difference if any in taste
