In the last thread I asked if anyone had any suzalulu fic recommendations. I'm still interested in hearing them, if anyone wants to share.

I watched this show for the first time recently, what an insane ride
>>3914089I'm a little jealous. There's no experience quite like watching it for the first time. Have you watched any of the movies/new series?
>>3914358not yet, dunno if I'll bother with the recap movies but I was gonna watch the ovas for the 5 minutes of suzaluluI'm a bit jealous of the people who watched the show as it was airing...
>>3914657Watching CG with /a/ was pretty fun. Every episode brought its new batch of memes. We were all cooming over Kanon's hat and waiting vigil for Clovis' glorious return. Spinzaku ruled the board. After Suzaku Fleiya'd Nunnally, the mods renamed /a/ to "CODE GEASS CODE GEASS CODE GEASS [etc.]" and pinned a gif of Suzaku laughing to the first page. I don't think anything that came after quite lived up to it.I just finished watching the recap movies, and I can definitely say they are not worth it. The first movie has a short extra scene of baby Lulu in the very beginning, and then a new scene of him playing darts about halfway through, where he is looking pretty cute. The second movie as a couple of new scenes from Suzaku's perspective about Zero re-appearing after the timeskip, and it's kind of fun to see his side of things, but not worth the runtime. The third movie really adds nothing except a few pointless scenes of Shirley. So glad they saved her just to shove her ass in our faces and not give her anything else to do.If you are a fan of SuzaLulu, I think the Akito OVAs are worth it. Those two are absolutely unhinged in them, and it gets real shippy in the end (the sunflowers, man ;_;). As a bonus, Akito is also pretty cute, and I thought the conflict he had with his brother was interesting. But Julius Kingsley is the real star, even if he only appears for about 10 combined minutes.
I finally watched Re;surrection and, uh, wow. That was pretty bad, huh? I'm kind of reeling from how much I did not like that.At least invalid Lelouch was cute. And so was Suzaku gently poking his cheek to see if he was real. But everyone was behaving so out of character. They just kind of hand-waved away all of the consequences from the original series. The plot was contrived and they kept breaking established laws of their own universe. What a stinky pile a garbage.Here's to hoping Roze of the Recapture can't be worse. I expect that it might be, but I'll stick it out for even a smidgen of fanservice, god help me.
I can't stop thinking about how bad that movie was. There were so many minor, common sense script adjustments that would have made a world of difference. Why did they make CC have an active role in his resurrection? They didn't have to write it that way, they could have made it work however they wanted. He could have revived on his own, said it was because of Charles' code, and all CC had to be responsible for was smuggling him out of his grave. It makes no sense that CC, who hates being immortal and wishes for nothing else but to die, would force the same fate onto someone she allegedly cares about. I get that she's lonely, but am I supposed to feel sorry for her when she has forced Lelouch to accept a curse she herself considers worse than death, without even consulting him about it first?And could they really not think of a better motivation for Lelouch to get back into action than, wuh-oh! Nunnally has been kidnapped! It's so uninspired. Setting aside that it took him approximately no time at all to adjust to the fact that he'd been resurrected against his will, and that he had apparently no opinions about it, WHY did he feel it was necessary to become "Zero" again to save her? The whole point of the Zero persona was to 1, conceal his identity, which he flagrantly did not do even a little bit, and 2, become a symbol to rally the Japanese people, which has no baring on this plot whatsoever. I get that this movie was 99% fanservice, and you gotta put Lulu in the Zero suit because that's what people want to see, but give him a better reason to! He gave up the mantle of Zero and he passed it on to Suzaku. That had meaning.
And speaking of Suzaku, what the fuck was up with him pummeling Lulu like that? Yes, he has behaved violently towards him in the past, but it's always dispassionate, calculated, and show of built up disgust, ie. dragging him around by his hair, grinding his face into the floor, stepping on his head, trying to strangle him after calming deliberating on it for hours, etc. In a situation like that I can reasonably see him shoving Lelouch into the wall by the collar and demanding answers, maybe one solid punch from the shock. But he went absolute psycho mode on him after barely a moment's hesitation. I think if you hit Lulu that hard and that much he'd shatter like glass, immortal or not. And he just let him? This might be my own interpretation, but I always felt the reasons Lulu lied to Suzaku about Euphy and Shirley were because he needed to stand firm on his convictions, and admitting his former actions were mistakes would shake his resolve, and also because he did feel responsible for their deaths, and he thought accepting the blame was just punishment. But in this situation he had no motivation to lie to Suzaku about his intentions, or to make him believe he planned his resurrection from the start. It's just bizarre.
And Shirley! Why is she here? I thought they spared her in this timeline because she was going to have some part to play in the movie, but it turns out her only role is to have her phone calls go perpetually unanswered. The only thing she does of any consequence in the entire re;surrectshit timeline is smuggle Lulu's corpse to CC offscreen. And how, exactly, did she do that? Why would she have had access to Lulu's body? Did she carry him bridal style past stationed guards? It would have made 1000x more sense to have Jeremiah do that. Or Sayoko. Anyone, really.I'm pissed because I don't think it had to be bad. There are some ideas here they could have worked with, and it feels like such a missed opportunity to have done something interesting and worthy of the characters. But now this piece of shit garbage will be canon forevermore, and anything they make after will be building off of this. I hate it.
;_;
I like it when he's suffering.
