What are your thoughts on Hogwarts house placement for Jayce and Viktor anons? Other characters welcome too
>>3940161Gryffindor/Hufflepuff Jayce and Ravenclaw Viktor. I'm not so well-versed on Hogwarts houses so this is just a random string of words that come to my head. I know some people place Jayce in Ravenclaw as well, but I don't really see it for him. He's as scientifically-minded as Viktor, of course, but I think he's more easily led astray from it, which was the conflict in his character in S1 where he got lost in politics, in contrast to Viktor who will (for the most part) stop at nothing when it comes to innovation as we can see with his self-experimentation and hiveminding of everyone. They both set aside their ideals at some point, but in my mind Jayce's was borne of an external influence while Viktor came to that conclusion on his own.I opt for Gryffindor simply because of its overall archetype of being brave and sort of reckless, and their naivety due to being tunnel-visioned in their chivalry sometimes. Yes he is brave and sometimes reckless, but I think his being an excellent friend and ally shines through more than any of his other (many) positive qualities when the going gets tough. Caitlyn is also a Hufflepuff, for similar reasons. 100% on the rest of your placements.

What's your tolerance level for AUs? Do you prefer canon divergent AUs in the same universe or as long as good characterization is present, would you read modern setting stories? What AUs would you be interested in reading?

If fic anon is still here I like those types too.Tried reading some modern AUs, not my thing. Majority of the time it's too feel good and cheesy, especially if the cast is the entire shipperfag gang. Maybe I'd read another one if it was through recommendation and well-written, but otherwise no. PnZ can be easily written as a modern setting with some tweaks either way so I don't really understand the appeal.

They're often bland, uninspired, or wildly out of character - usually all three. While this will happen in canon fics too, a lot of the time the characters just end up as sock puppets for the writer's views/fetishes/etc.

Finally found a fic I liked. Before you ask I won't rec it here because it absolutely doesn't suit other anons' tastes but I felt well fed for the first time in months. Fuck's sake it should not be this hard to find fics that sound like the characters' voices.
