shame about the Level-5 CEO talking about using AI to code vidya
>>4047782If it were just code, it wouldn't be a problem. Good coders are hard to come by. Good shotacon coderd probably even more so. If they write story themselves and hire artists for art, I wouldnt mind.

>>4047782>>4047784I hate level 5 for this. The most shotacon dev also being among the first and most enthusiastic to fully adopt ai for everything is such shit. I view them at least as negatively as people and companies that turn their back on shotas. Maybe worse.

>>4047788TruThere is Haniel tho
>>4047787But they didn't say they adopt it for everything. You are overreacting like a woman. They did say use ai fof coding. Which I understand. Using ai as supplementary tool to code makes sense here because japanese games industry always struggled with not having enough coders. Kondo was for example talking about issue with lack of coders as far as Sen 1, and even before that Falcom never had that many people fof coding.

>>4047824Their output has only gotten worse since they started using ai. And while level-5 themselves would still ultimately be responsible for hiring Inafune and giving him a say over anything, he was for sure one of the main factors that contributed to their diving headfirst into slop. And we know for a fact that he is pretty much single handedly responsible for fantasy life's catastrophic development. At this point they've gone to shit so hard that I suspect they've already driven away all of their talented and passionate employees and are in an inescapable death spiral.I wish this lesson could have been taught using literally any other company. That it ended up being the shota company is a crime against humanity.>>4047840They have been bragging about using ai for concept art going back at least as far as megaton musashi. All of their trailers are full of ai slop. They use it for characters designs, explicitly stated for the recent inazuma eleven. And they even put it directly in their games, again the crowds/backgrounds in victory road.I cannot think of a single other game dev their size or bigger that is as openly all in on ai slop in all facets of development.
>>4047844Yea but it is not actual AI in-game. So you are indeed overreacting like I have stated. Using it as a supplementary tool for concept art is fine when you are trying different things and how it might work.
>>4047845NTAI don't know about that, the concept art thing. If an artist can't be bothered to pour themself into the thing they're making, then they don't actually care about it. What's the point of art if you don't care? At that point it's only a product.
>>4047846I mean, I can understand it, considering how many different boys there are, especially in the last game. It deffinetelly can speed up process of getting interesting designs. Issue would be if they didnt do anything further with it and put it in as AI makes it. If the artists further work with the design and tweek it and add touches of soul here and there, and fix AI errors, then it is fine in my eyes.
>>4047827>>4047836I'm glad that none of these are outright axebait. The racing one is definitely the weakest. Older brother baby brother is, for some reason, simply a less popular dynamic than unrelated man and boy. And while racing itself isn't a bad choice for a spokon, formula racing is a bit less exciting than something like street racing. But even then, I think it's gotten off to a pretty good start establishing its principal characters and setting itself down a story that, if handled well, should be engaging. Choosing to include such a young main character is a risk. A lot of normalfags recoil at the sight of very young children. But Haruka is cute and sweet in a way that I think will appeal even to non-shotacons.The new one obviously only has one chapter to judge, but it was a good one. Doing the Reigen and Mob dynamic is a good choice. Already the man is both cool and likeable while also being funny. And I think making the shota look a little weird is a good choice. He's still conventionally cute, but it makes him stand out a bit more. A huge factor in its favor is the current dearth of proper action adventure, travel around beating up monsters manga, which this fills well. My only concern is keeping up with those monster designs. In my opinion, the exorcist one is the strongest so far. It has the best tonal reach and balance from drama to comedy. The shota is old enough not to trigger normalfag complaints about young characters. The man is competent and badass while still being funny in a dorky, unprepared father way, which I think is an even stronger dynamic than the Reigen one. It's got avenues for monster fighting action and intrigue. And it's in jump+.All in all, a good batch of shota manga. Here's hoping they all make it.
Father's Day
>>4047849I'm surprised that you don't think Cannon Master is an obvious axebait. I just don't see it making it too far past chapter 20, if that. Hal Formula is a tad unfortunate as I just don't think that Jump's Japanese audience have an appetite for this artist. His first attempt, Beast Children, was quite rough around the edges, and I wasn't surprised to see it die, though he did show a lot of growth towards the end of the run. His second attempt, Green Green Greens, was a massive improvement but more or less proved beyond a shadow of the doubt that Jump and golf just won't mix. The longest lasting golf series in the magazine's history was just over two years for Rising Impact back in the late 90s by Suzuki of The Seven Deadly Sins/Four Knights of the Apocalypse fame. Even with some degree of veteran protections following Kuroko's Basketball, Fujimaki still only lasted a year with RobotXLaserbeam. So far, I really hope Hal Formula works out because I really want this guy to get a hit under his belt, but it has now been several years since Jump had a successful spokon. For four decades, spokon was a pillar of the magazine, but it's been nothing but axed manga since Haikyu ended.
>>4047852>it has now been several years since Jump had a successful spokon. For four decades, spokon was a pillar of the magazine, but it's been nothing but axed manga since Haikyu ended.I think this works in its favor, at least from the editorial side. They'll be more likely to give it a bit of breathing room out of desperation. And since getting unceremoniously axed before getting a chance is currently the greatest risk for WSJ manga, that's a pretty good thing to have going for you. It is the one I'm most worried about, but substantially worse manga have recently been given a surprising amount of time. It does need to win over the readers too. And I think it can do it. With spokon the characters are more important than the sport itself. And the brothers are already a solid emotional core. If it's able to expand that into some good rivalries and mentors, I think it's got a shot.>I'm surprised that you don't think Cannon Master is an obvious axebait. Why do you think it is? I think it would have decent chances even if WSJ was in a healthy state. Which it's not. Have you seen the garbage they've been letting through lately? The only reason I'm not totally confident about it is precisely because of the poor management that has led to the magazine being in this state. Even if it ends up being really good it could end up getting axed so that some deviantart looking trash with narou tier writing can take its place. But on its own merits, I think it's off to a good start. There's always the risk it could fumble going forward. But so far the only obvious hurdle it needs to clear there is handling Ur's power. But there are plenty of other stories that have managed that to draw inspiration from. And, based on its tone, I think the mangaka is already aware of that and is prepared to deal with it.All this said, I like them. Which is the worst possible axe-flag.

>>4047860I've been reading Jump digitally from cover to cover for several years now, including all of the axebait. Cannon Master just seems a lot like prior nothing burgers, probably the one that it most reminders me of is Golem Heart. I am not going to try and claim that I know better than the editors on what will and will not resonate with the readers, but I do think that I have developed a bit of a sense for this. Sadly, my tastes are not 100% that of the readers, otherwise some recent series like Green Green Greens, Martial Master Asumi, and Alien Headbutt would have lived. It sucks when a promising series isn't given a chance but something crappy like Nue's Exorcist gets to live. But most axebait are generally neither terrible or great but unloved. They tend to be white noise. On spokon, it has been a bloodbath with no favoritism given. Haikyu ended on issue 33-34 of 2020. This week was issue 31 2026, so it has been almost exactly 6 years. Nine Dragons Ball Parade (baseball) lasted 22 chapters, Neru (martial arts) also lasted 22 chapters, Do Retry (boxing) lasted 19 chapters, Master Martial Asumi (MMA) lasted 33 chapters, Two on Ice (figure skating) lasted 31 chapters, Green Green Greens (golf) lasted 26 chapters, Embers (soccer) lasted 20 chapters, Harukaze Mound (baseball) lasted 32 chapters, Ekiden Bros (marathon running) lasted 17 chapters, and Ping-Pong Peril (ping-pong) lasted 17 chapters. Nothing seems to be sticking, and Jump is not bothering unless there's a fervor for it. Now, most of the these were no good, but GGG and MMA were both quite good and should have been time to flourish.

>>4047909I'm sort of the opposite of you. I only read the manga that appeal to me and have gone through periods of reading nothing in WSJ. I'm just going off my gut. I could smell the stink of death on Fabricant 100 and Otr from the first chapter. I don't get that from these. Maybe Hal Formula if the magazine was stronger, but not as it currently is. They feel more like coinflips than full blown axebait.>Harukaze Mound (baseball) lasted 32 chaptersThis is the one I had in mind. I felt like this one got off to an awful start. Its first chapter was a big downgrade from the oneshot. So the fact that Saito tried to drag its corpse along for as long as he did makes me think he's desperate for a successful spokon. Obviously if Japanese readers just outright refuse to read sports manga anymore then there's nothing that can be done for it. But I think Hal Formula will be given a bit more breathing room if it shows even the slightest bit of potential.I think it's hard to draw much information from the really quick axings. What can you make of Alien Headbutt getting taken out back and shot faster than blacked jk or fucking gonron other than some sort of internal dispute or personality clash?

>>4047913Hal Formula should have been about rally racing instead cause it's cooler, not to mention underexposed in media.
>>4047913Alien Headbutt just was a bad fit for Jump, period. Something like that had worked in the magazine in decades, possibly since the 90s. I really liked it (until he had to rush the ending), and it got good buzz on /a/ and in the MangaPlus comments, so it clearly had way more good vibes amongst the foreign fans than it did in Japan. Feels like it would have made more sense in an edgier seinen publication like the one that ran Gantz or runs Terra Formars. I really wish that I knew what was up with spokon in Jump. It's not like the genre is dead. Weekly Shonen Magazine's biggest hit in years has been Blue Lock, so there's still an audience somewhere lapping it up. I do think that Jump hasn't necessarily put forth too many worthwhile ones since Haikyu, but honestly the problem began before 2020. Haikyu ending wasn't exactly a surprise or anything. They should have started to line up a new spokon by 2017-2018. Most of the hits in the past had overlap periods. The final years of Haikyu saw the quick deaths of the aforementioned Robot X Laserbeam (golf), Shudan! (soccer), Full Drive (table tennis), Momiji no Kisetsu (shoji), Double Taisei (shoji--Jump really wanted a shoji series in the 2010s), and the aforementioned Beast Children (rugby). I think one of the biggest issues that seems to plague spokon in Jump is how much it pushes its legacy franchises. It's hard to run a sport that already has an iconic series for that sport, but less mainstream sports run the risk of failing to catch an audience (but holy shit if it lands--Jump is often cited as having helped bring a new youth generation into basketball with Slam Dunk and into go with Hikaru no Go). It's possible to get a second hit for a sport like Whistle for soccer and Kuroko's Basketball for basketball, but a lot of the popular sports are already taken. For fucksake, a baseball series hasn't been able to take off in the magazine since the 70s after Samurai Giants and Play Ball.
