Like how she felt Anne staying with her instead of going back with the Plantars at the end of 2A "made the most sense," have her be overall nice, but make her sort of subconsiously condescending towards Anne in that "let's do things my way because I'm smarter than you" way. Only now Anne has the confidence to push back against it (again, not in a overtly hostile way), which starts generating friction between them. Things quietly build up until True Colors, where Anne and Sasha's rejection after the reveal pushes Marcy to the point of erupting.

From the get go it seemed like Adrian Chase was going to be DC's Punisher but Wolfman quickly lost interest in that and softened him into a costumed hero that killed if he had to in self defense but would just leave them alive. Then he quits, some rando cop takes over and is killed by Peacemaker (who just got absorbed into DC after COIE and they made him a nutter) then thing get even more convoluted under Kupperberg and it became such a mess that Chase does something in the final issue that I'm still surprised DC allowed to happen.
