Good morning, grandpa. It's that liminal period between Christmas and New Years when no one wants to do anything, yet somehow, the paper still gets delivered. Enjoy the comics.

Take this as fanfic if you want. I’m not asking you to believe me. I had a low level job at a studio that produces capeshit. I got cut during “restructuring.” So fuck it.….heres what goes on behind the scenes. I’m gonna guess it applies to most studios who make capeshit movies but I’m not sure. Come up with your own guess of who I’m talking about. >They think the fans are stupid. painfully stupid, they aren’t shy about their hatred of them. They openly JOKE about it. There’s an actual phrase I heard more than once “the braindead manchildren.” As in, “throw in THIS moment and they’ll clap or something and we’ll get paid.” They know exactly which buzzwords, shots, and lines will set off the most loyal shilling retards and drive engagement. It’s been this way for years. >Executives absolutely lurk online. Reddit, 4chan, X…. Mostly Reddit….They read theories and sometimes just… use them if they’re popular enough…bad or not. I’ve watched meetings where someone pitches something and another person goes “oh yeah, I saw that online.” >There’s also a lot of stuff that’s actually good that gets killed quietly.>There are writers who straight up hate the comics the films are adaptions of and think fans are stupid for caring about accuracy. >Shipbaiting is 100% intentional, so is anti-ship repellant. They track engagement. They know exactly what they’re doing. If it keeps people arguing for six months, it worked.>They also joke about all of the criticism thrown at them, calling them “whiny bitches”, the office is half memes, half corporate bullshit, and full on contempt for anyone outside the bubble.
>>151919548>They think the fans are stupid. painfully stupid>Executives absolutely lurk online. Reddit, 4chan, X…. Mostly RedditNo wonder they think the fans are retarded.
>>151919548Get fucked
>>151919812respect to capeshit writers for finding out the most efficient way to suck money out of retards
>>151919548>As in, “throw in THIS moment and they’ll clap or something and we’ll get paid.”This one feels true at this point. The recent Godzilla vs MARVEL comics had this in spades.
>>151919573I am 70% sure he is talking about DC
>DC currently raping them with DC KO and the Absolute Universe>Image and the Energon Universe is killing it>No one cares about One World Under Doom, despite it being a blatant brand synergy attempt/advertisement for Avengers Doomsday>Age of Revelation is horrid and killed the X-men brand>Spider-man is in the toilet>No one cares about the current Avengers or F4 runs>Killed the Ultimate Universe for no real reason, but it wasn't really all that good anyway>Sales fallen off a cliffHow would you fix them /co/? Is it finally time for a company reboot?
>>151915925It's not that comic writers need an 'eighth yacht' it's that comic writing pays so little than any individual writer needs to do over 3 or 4 books a month to get by. Which means they typically spend less time on each and spend less time reading, which makes them worse writers. If a comic writer could keep by with just one or two monthlies, then they could focus in on their craft a lot more
>>151915973The Absolutes are doing well because those characters are some of the most famous fictional characters in the world, and a comic book with them with a different setting and no continuity is just appealing to a lot of people
>>151916068Books in general haven't been a growth business in the rising 'entertainment industry.'Except for maybe some trashy romantic smut for women and girls. Why would we expect comics to grow in popularity when kids have easier access to the les challenging media of tv, movies, youtube, and videogames?
>>151918165They are sized weirdly (for traditional book standards) and cost 50% more in comparison to DC's offering
>>151918557>comics were always more niche than people realise. This is true.Comics were the most ubquiteous before TV was even a thing.By the 50s, early 60s, even the best selling comic books in the country would do, at best, 400k. And that was before video games, the internet, and even dedicated 'round-the-clock children's tv programming
"Well Lion-O, it looks like Wilykit is getting all the attention now so you and I are all by ourselves. ....Ever been kissed before?"
Reminder: Willykat didn't wear any underwear.

discuss DC's answer to VisionWhat separates him from Vision?Did his various appearances in Brave and the Bold, Young Justice, Arrowverse, etc sell you on his character? Did you like his character before his TV cameos?Did you wish he was popular enough to be more than a supporting/background character in other media?Favorite runs?

>>151923623They were published within a month so it is not possible for either to influence each other, especially factoring the time it takes to make a comic and how you have lead time to release so the month is when it is to be replaced on the stands. But the amount of overlapping aspects are weird.

My wife bought a bunch of onions "meat" yesterday, and she makes the worst meals with it. I can't tell her how much I don't like it, and at the end of the day she was trying to do a good thing by saving money. So, that has me on a bad mood, but it’s the worst kind of bad moods, it's a secret bad mood. I have to pretend, and that sucks. I'll have to eat that horrible thing for a while too.So, that's what's on my mind

I want to learn languages and drawing in my spare time. I want to put my useless digital arts bachelor to use to work on passion projects. But my biggest achievement this year was finally starting and beating Dark Souls.I highly doubt things will ever get better.

>>151909783Silly question, but for traditional artists, how do you guys scan your art to your computer? I tried using the scanner feature on my hp office jet printer but I feel like thats not the correct option
>>151923563i use the library scanner. what makes you think the option wasn't correct
>>151923563Use manual settings whenever possible. Automatic means the computer will guess you're drawing polar bears in a snowstorm.Scan a test page many times while tweaking settings until you get results you like. Write down or screenshot your settings so you remember them.Drop the gamma as low as it goes and work upwards until you get what you want. Pencils and inks can be scanned in grayscale which is a little quicker and saves some space. There's no point in scanning in less than 300dpi and scanning in more than 600dpi is about as silly but I'm not the boss of you.Crop and adjust colors of your raw scans and save them as separate PNGs. Do not edit these files further, just keep them in your reference library.Use these files as a base for your comics project in whatever format your graphics program likes.t. draws rabbits and has a stack of scanners bought at charity shops for $5-15 or found in dumpsters or during office cleanouts
Some of my oldest /co/ memories are my oldest memories period. One of them was seeing on TV the trailer of The Incredibles, which at least where I live featured this scene. Another was watching the Stuart Little cartoon which I think only aired for like a year. The only thing I remember was the outro to be honest, for some reason I really liked that "Sony pictures television" logo.>birth year: 2000
>>151923817I briefly remember watching the first Toy Story on VHS, and I'm pretty sure it was a Spanish dub from Mexico as we live not too far away from there. I also briefly remember watching the opening scene of Cars in theatres in Mexico but that's just about it.t. 22 years old
