DC Comics is ending Green Arrow with December’s issue #31. And like with Birds of Prey, which is also ending in December, it doesn’t seem like it was entirely writer Chris Condon’s decision to wrap up the lauded title. Instead, as fellow DC writer Scott Snyder explained in a social post, the sales on the book were “unsustainable.”

“Issue thirty-one of GREEN ARROW will be my final issue on the title,” wrote Condon on BlueSky after DC’s December solicits dropped online. “It’s been fantastic to work with Montos, Buddy, Hass, Adriano, and Chris Rosa on the book. More than that, it’s been a dream to work on a character like Ollie for DC Comics. I’m bummed we have to end things here… But I’m fiercely proud of the work – especially this final issue. Thank you to all of the fans who have been reading month to month for your support. Like you, I can’t wait to see what comes next for the Emerald Archer.”

While Condon wasn’t specific about the exit, Snyder was. Responding to a post about the cancellation of the title that mused (with slightly saltier language) about why DC was ending “their best ongoing,” Snyder wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Decisions like these are above my paygrade, but the honest reason is that not enough of us were buying it. The sales numbers on GA were just unsustainable. It’s disappointing to everyone. But keeping it going means not being able to take other chances.”

Continuing on that bent, Snyder noted that fans should always order from a store before Final Order Cutoff (FOC), which is often a month or more before the issue actually hits stands. The reason? That lets the comic book stores know people want the book, but it also indicates whether the title is sustainable in the long run for the publisher, as well.

But that's the same for all comics except Batman, with the possible exception of Superman and Spiderman.

It was extended from a 6 issue mini originally or something, no? Green Arrow's never been a big seller for them, I'm surprised the first new title for their Absolute run is a Green Arrow book

As a young man, I was quick to correct people on subjects that I had claimed as being my own, personal forte. I was also quick to endure the shame of a thousand shuns whenever I made the minorest mistake. I like to believe I achieved a healthy arrogance/embarrassment balance, much like when you eat a big, juicy hamburger immediately followed by 17 pounds of fresh spinach to counteract the burger's health detriments.

This problem existed before indie pilots, it's always been a thing in the indie comic scene. A lot of women (and woman-brained men) with art degrees are just making comics as a form of autobiographical therapy since they don't really know what to do with their lives other than broadcast how they're a basket case, justify blowing so much money on a career that isn't financially stable, and write feminine domestic mundane narratives (these are not inherently bad, but they're prone to being abused by selfishness). They do nothing in their lives, and then whine about how nothing ever happens and that it's always someone else's fault that their life sucks.

You are what you expose yourself to. The best artists go out and experience new things and never stop trying. Go visit a museum. Go for a walk. Learn to meditate. Read a good book from a genre you don't usually enjoy. Get obsessed with a different culture's history or religion or mythos. Pick up a certification/trade.

If "nothing ever happens" then make something happen.

>We all assume if a series is critically well received or gets awards, it’s a high seller, but the opposite can be true
>For example, one of my favorite series ever, and in my opinion one of the best, Gotham Central was literally one of DC’s lower selling books during that period
>To be clear, the series lives really well in trade, and now is like a perennial seller, thankfully, as it should be, but that era was different, price point was lower, you could keep things going longer. It’s harder these days to go past 12 if a series doesn’t have the sales

>First things first - this doesn't mean a new writer is coming in. The book, to the best of my knowledge, is over. GREEN ARROW has never been a top-seller, which you can guess from the number of times he's had a book on the stands. It's been inconsistent for a reason - he never quite gets over the hump of where DC wants sales to be. That's unfortunately the reality in commercial arts, like comics. If you're not selling, you're not going to continue making for long. On top of this, DC is going to be releasing two additional Green Arrow books in 2026, both seemingly trending toward what Montos and I were doing with the title in 2024 and 2025. So, if you do the math, I think it's quite simple. DC wouldn't have three titles with a character that doesn't sell particularly well, would they?
>I'll be the first to say that I'm disappointed by this. I was really enjoying writing the characters and exploring Star City with Montos and the great team on the title. We had some vague plans of where things were going to go (Tate Brombal and I brainstormed a possible Batgirl and Connor Hawke crossover arc, though we never formally pitched DC - my title got the ax before we got the chance). But this is just the way these things go, unfortunately. But while I'm disappointed, I understand why it happened. I can't force readers to pick up a book. I can't force people to like a character that I like. I can only do what I do - write the best stories I can come up with.

You missed some stuff:
> after Rayla wasted time reading in the ship wreck (and Callum waiting in the cold), they need to stay the night there. Callum is self-simping and Rayla is all down to just "share the one bedroll".
>Then Callum mentions that he used dark magic (way back to save everyone in S5)and Rayla chews him out.
During the episode Aaron makes many meta jokes that RAYLLUM is dead, even the pets shit on it, go tells us to fap over the Terry/Claudia tranny-ship instead.
>Rayla did try a half-hearted attempt during the redo, but Callum is so overwhelmingly cuck he doesn't even let her.
>During S5 there is also a scene in which Amaya, the Girlboss who eats grunts for breakfast, tries to talk to Rayla about being a bitch to Callum, but Rayla is defensive and Amaya doesn't even follow up with a response.
>During the S7 finale Callum might have to do Dark Magic and then go mad. So he asks Rayla to kill him if he does, a real emotionally vulnerable moment. Rayla tells him to just shrug it off and later when it's her turn to kill Callum again notches an arrow.

>>
>>150422305
There was a TPB comic about a Ghost Hunter tv show crew that set up shop in an abandoned, renowned asylum for their great comeback episode: Shit of course hits the fan pretty much instantly...
The whole thing was drawn in a very cartoony artstyle, but the story still held some suspense with the Lovecraftian stakes and interesting characters. Anyone knows what I'm talking about?

>Brubaker resurrects Bucky
>he's now an ebin assassin that everyone fears
>and he's also been involved with every single assassination that went down after WW2
>and he was also Nat's first and best love
>retcons upon retcons of him being connected to literally every single important person that was alive before the sliding timescale present
>but he's heckin brainwashed and so he's freed by the mindcontrol
>becomes Cap for a while
>has been treading water ever since then
I think we can all agree that bringing Bucky back was a mistake in the long run. The first story was a genuine curveball, but the character has had literally nothing to do since then. He'd never replace Cap permanently, and now Sam is the 2nd Cap for DEI points. So what does Bucky actually do? He's just another assassin, except now he fucks Nat instead of Tony. He gets to have "boys nights" with Fury and the rest. But the character is literally an empty vessel, he serves no function on any level.

You know what I think would've been an actually better character arc? Him being a willing Winter Soldier.
>inb4 REEEEEE muh character assassination
Oh get over yourselves. Bucky was a nothingburger sidekick. When Brubaker made him Cap he utterly ruined Zemo's decades-long progression to push his self-insert. For my money, Cap finding out that his old friend had turned would've been a far bigger gut-punch and allowed for better stories down the line. It's the same thing they did with Todd over Hush and then didn't follow through with. Bucky turning for ideological reasons and becoming a bold new bad guy would've been far more interesting.

No, seriously, I want a single Bucky/WS fan to tell me why he exists right now. Because I can't think of a single one. I guess they wrote out 616 Fury, SHIELD's no more, and so Bucky is the resident old-man spy? That was just Logan's schicht that they rehashed, nothing new or interesting. He's just there to fuck Widow and talk to Cap from time and... nothing else, really.

I think it had more to do with the fact that they have two 10 episode seasons to get all this shit set up. I'm not saying I prefer it this way but we're not in the days when a show can just get 50-60 episodes to just fuck around.
