Been reading Mark Gruenwald's Captain America, and it's been fun. I love Gruenwald's worldbuilding and continuity autism. What Marvel runs have you read recently? What have you enjoyed?
>>153061529Nigga, was you around in the 90s? Because if you were your know what a depressing shit show the Clone Saga was. I not saying Quesada was good, but Marvel wasn't in a good place when was hired. It's how he got the job in the first place.
>>153061569>Whataboutism!I rather the company died of bankruptcy than what Joey Q turned it into. But I guess you're fine with She-Hulk just being know as a ho & Beast as a genocidal mad scientist.
Rereading this bad boy, It's been about ten years give or take.

>>153060781Because it means you can put a nice lid on things and confidently say "this was good."If you ask people if they would rather have 2 seasons of something good and that's it, or 2 seasons of something good that then becomes shit for a further 15 seasons, most people would pick the former.
>>153060781What bothers most is how Zach's "not wanting to give the audience 'slop'" excuse was enough to get everyone siding with an objectively tone-deaf and unprofessional way to end a hit cartoon, especially in this current animation climate. People are so unwilling to criticize these two (e.g. gassing up even the most meh SF gags) that even the fanboys clamoring for more Gumball and Gravity Falls and Regular Show have suddenly changed their tune and are in SUPPORT of a series ending so soon.

What is point of Superman clones? Evil or otherwise? What are they supposed to represent besides Superman himself? Are people going to stop doing this shit once Superman goes public domain?
>>153060300It's like Superman, but he do da murrdurr.
>>153061646Try saying that to the lawyers
>>153062062The lawyers didn't really care, comics were seen as too lowbrow.
Superman is basically the most important fictional creation of the 20th century. There’s always going to be interest in exploring variations of how he could have turned out in different conditions.

>SPHINX LARPed as saturday morning villains like most "villains" in the show, just with poison capsules implanted in the brains of their operatives.>One day, a bunch of guys from the GCI fuck up an attempt to expose the secrets of the "hero" Jonas Venture, who was much closer to an actual villain and deserved to have his true nature revealed, an act of accidental heroism had it not resulted in his apparent death instead.>Jonas was put on life support but his team fucked it up so that only his head could be preserved, missing the opportunity to de-escalate the situation simply because they were embarrassed.>The Sovereign framed SPHINX for the fiasco in order to avoid taking the heat.>The OSI decided to commit a series of war crimes against SPHINX to get rid of them and SPHINX probably never really understood why the LARP turned so sour on them.>Hunter Gathers from OSI stowed the confiscated SPHINX armory away and eventually used sair armory for himself when he simply tired of the bureaucracy of the OSI to do his own rogue version of it.>Hunter is eventually re-instated into the OSI and put in charge, at which point he just reinstates everyone but 21 who was never part of the OSI and pretend the whole thing never happened.>21 then tries to create his own version of SPHINX by running a recruitment drive, which only attracts the old members of SPHINX who really just want to die in one final LARP before the poison capsules in the brains starts leaking.>Instead they're just arrested and Hunter needlessly blows up their already evacuated flying fortress as he wanted to pretend he won a battle, while the Monarch accidentally blows up the hangar with the rest of the gear, leaving the old SPHINX to just die from brain poisoning in jail.SPHINX might be the saddest faction in Venture Bros, I didn't even bring up the Commander pretending Hank is his ex just because he wants the final LARP to be just like old times.
>>153059336>Rusty was 3 in Spanakopita!?Must've been, unless that was the original Rusty (clone slugs age in the test tubes from the point of... conception?). It's long established that Seasons 1-3 take place in 2008 (we even have significant timeskips with season 4 and 5, with 6 and 7 being fully two years later with the Action Man finally having the stroke Orpheus predicted in S1). Rust specifically states himself in the S1 finale that he is 43 years old. 2008 - 43 = 1965. And it also lines up with Hank and Dean's age and their clones' ages as Myra states them being 21 years old (their clones being 16 at the time). And we know that the originals were also born in 87 with the first trial clones being there because we see them in The Invisible Hand of Fate. 2008 - 21 = 1987. So yeah, Rusty was 22 when he was in college. >>153058784>I guess I'm just surprised it he made it that far.Well, he did drop out after Movie Night, so really he didn't make it after all.
>>153057743>because Rusty says he hasn't had sex in over 19 years at that pointsex wasn't involved in the boys creation, those remarks were all red herrings
>>153061851He wasn't evil, he was just a sociopath. He was 100% dedicated to science and all the good it could do for the world. His own reasons may have included the benefits he'd get from being the worlds greatest scientist but despite his sociopathy he did have a sense of greater good. In some ways that was why he could be such a great scientist. The greater good came before everything else, even other's lives. He shrugged off the Helper bots being potentially dangerous to 1% of children because it helped 99%. So when he realized Venturion's body was close at hand he did the most sensible thing for the good of science: attempt to commander the vessel to put his own brain in so he could continue his work. His own body was finally giving out, his attempts to shift his consciousness into the building's mainframe were not working out, and he knew he'd beaten death with Venturion, the math was just plain to him for what he should do.In retrospect this means the reason he abandoned that flying saucer experiment after it killed the pilot was some critical flaw in the design he couldn't rectify. To everyone on the outside it likely seemed as if he canceled the project out of respect to the pilot but I'm sure Jonas made no attempt to conceal his frustration with not being able to make it work.
>>153062028There is also a shade of ego in it. The man was very clearly in love with his own public image and also very visibly enjoyed the more less than respectable benefits of what his life and lifestyle bought to him when they presented themselves. Was he a villain? No. Morally flexible? Yes. Hedonistic and vain? BIG yes when he could get it. He did believe in a greater good to some level. It existing and having some part in that is probably what kept him from going full diabolical power hungry to the likes that Hunter would chose to deal with while he was Sphinx Commander.
>>153062028>He wasn't evil, he was just a sociopath.Jonas didn't have any problems just taking what he wanted. The whole Bobby St Simone thing was he wanted to fuck her, so he did shoddy superscience to seduce her, then spun the resulting fuckup into forcing her to be an OSI assetHe left a bunch of orphans to die underground and never bothered to see if they survived, he just sealed off the place and never looked backHe was evil and a sociopath, he just thought all those actions were justified because he earned good boy points through improving the world. And thats not how it works, you don't get to rape a kid after donating enough to the homeless or whatever
