>Superheroes SUCK and are GAY and PEDOPHILES! They're insults to the people who fought in WW2!Why is Ennis like this? Soldiers in WW2 loved comics and bought and read them like crazy.
>>152161186Nah, Garth Ennis is just as much of a capeshit fan as all the people in this thread both praising and lambasting him. And he's the same as a lot of other cape comic writers, he's got his obvious faves and the guys he really hates, and he's also got a huge ego and love for trying to act more "mature" than he really is. And he's got a rather warped view of superheroes and WWII that doesn't really quite map to the reality of the situation, especially in regards to Captain America. And that's fine. You can be a good writer but still have flaws. He doesn't have to be perfect, he can be good. Problem is that his fanboys refuse to see that, so any criticism of the man is liable to get screams of how someone's just a whiny crybaby who can't stand to see their favorite heroes taken down a peg, when it's just Garth being a juvenile dumbass ragging on cape heroes he doesn't like in the exact same vein as every other cape comic writer of his ilk. Just with more rape and peepee poopoo jokes thrown in.Garth Ennis is in the comics business cause he likes comics and cape comics in particular. People just refuse to treat him like the human he is instead of some divine prophet revealing to the world that cape comics...not super deep and complex and kind of juvenile at heart. When this is the same guy who made a character named Arseface and made a crappy zombie comic where some evil redneck whacks a guy in the face with a ripped off horse cock and admitted he wrote The Darkness for cash despite hating it. Like, seriously, comics aren't always that deep, and neither is Garth Ennis.
>>152161448For a man who constantly complains about the cape genre he sure spends a lot of time working in the cape genre. The actual highlight of The Boys is Ennis showing that Butcher has zero difference in behavior from the villains in that series which is a pretty big self-indictment because Butcher is his preferred protagonist archetype. His war books rely heavily on pop culture history, stereotypes, and biases rather than actual historical accuracy which might work for the ones that are actual comedy (don't worry, there is no way any of the lads who fought in those conflicts might be insulted by writing them as a farce, unlike those superheroes) but not for the dramatic pieces.>>152161663Ironically Ennis' Dredd run is widely considered subpar for constantly rehashing older stories.
>>152162593Not really, there's a clear divide between the butcher and the capes. He never was as humiliated, and lacks the theatrical evil.
>>152161716Moore didn't hate Howard, he just thought that he created so many fanboys obsessed with escapism despite his obvious talent, and that he was a tragic figure due to his suicide, which he's only gathered from de Camp's biography of Howard. This was in 1983, but he has never corrected his mistake. The only things Moore arguably hates are Thatcher and malicious right-wing politicians, DC and the comics industry in general, and Grant Morrison. He has a distaste for the type of fanboys that get this sort of thing wrong and watch superhero movies as adults, but probably doesn't hate them either. These are all things he interacted with.
>>152163669>man who pretends to be a snake wizard using imagination magic and claims to have seen his comic book character in real life pooh-poohs others for enjoying escapism

Why were Amphibia’s jokes so cringy?
Because they're not jokes. They're references. They're only "funny" in the now, and once people don't get what's being referenced or it's no longer relevant, there's no humor.

>>152160162>>152161576If you're asking about whether or not Cries-Havoc has horns in all his forms, then yes, he does. All Metis deformities persist in all their forms, and seem to be more exaggerated in Crinos/battle form (what people think of when someone says "werewolf"). Naturally, Cries' horns are smaller in his Homid/human (he can hide them with a hood) and lupus/wolf forms.
>>152162991I'm still trying to figure that out. Did Ted fuck a woman who JUST HAPPENED TO BE a feline theriomorph/were-cat? Or was it some shit where something divine decided "Well, your father is CALLED Wildcat, so I'll make you a literal humanoid cat!"

Marvel editors push back on shit getting swept under the rug. Meanwhile DC's constant reboots and shitty editorial mean nobody ever pays for their crimes.>Green Arrow has murdered a couple people over the years, sometimes in cold blood, and is still a Justice League member.>Red Hood murdered hundreds of people, but is welcome to lunch with the batfamily>Cheshire nuked a middle-eastern terrorist state to set up a ransom demand. She was tried for crimes against humanity, but now she's allowed to chill with the heroes.>Deathstroke and the Brotherhood of Evil nuked an AMERICAN city to ash. Nobody cares. They're just allowed to exist in the world.>Black Adam murdered millions of people across dozens of countries, then joined the Justice League, somehow. Why is DC so shit with this?
>>152162584Rebirth RHATO was bad too.
>>152148038>his warrior-monk training is infinitely more relevant than Under the Red Hood at this pointThat's like saying James Tynion IV is more relevant than Frank Miller because he's written the most in the modern era.
>>152162659Well yeah, but the problem with DC is that they will never do a full reboot because they don't want to ditch neither GL and Batman story>>152162719The difference is that Year one is the definitive origin while nobody use Lost years as Red Hood base story.
>>152163548True but at least DC does attempt to revitalize the characters for better or worse. Marvel just thinks relaunching under a new label & renumbering will fix their problems. Both companies are in such a poor state they need to stop in their tracks & focus on reprints completely. Or do hard reboots but that'll never happen unless their copyrights start running out.

I actually thought the animation for Ash vs. Yugi was good. I know a lot of people had problems with it, but I thought it was great.Even if you disagree about Ash losing, given the power gap between the two it makes sense for Yugi to take little damage. It also put Yugi in some kind of a mentor or elder role to Ash, and let Yugi show how far he had come by defeating someone who had been down the same path as him. He wasn't just fighting Ash, he was TEACHING Ash. And I think that's very heartwarming in a way. That Yugi would take the lessons he learned and help someone who was just like him.If this weren't a Death Battle I'm sure they would have ended cordially and taught each other well. The ending is weird, even if heartwarming in its own way. It was nice to see Ash standing side-by-side with his companions, but it feels weird to have him just stand there and take that blast.I haven't watched Ash's anime though (but after watching this fight I think I might watch a review of it!) so I might be missing stuff but as a big Yu-Gi-Oh fan I thought they did Yugi justice and from what I saw they treated Ash with the utmost respect. What character has ever gotten a death that can be reversed right on the spot?

This was the last time Babs was made interesting and a talking point.>it was unnecessary Name the last time Babs was interesting in comics?Even if Alan said this was in bad taste, I can't recall the last time Barbara mattered.
>>152161353It's true though, especially Cass fans. They are rabid about her being the only Batgirl.
>>152160333> character mattered/is interesting because they get shot randomlyThat's not her character you found interesting. The shock value of a named character getting fridged gave you the impression a batman story would finally had some real stackes and that trick got you into it. Lot of story start with a gratuitous murder for this reason.
>>152160799You mean in the sense they won the argument?
>>152161107>The only people that want Babs to be stuck in the wheelchair are Cass and Steph fansI'm not a fan of either, I just think Barbara as a character has as much gravitas while Oracle because of her incident with Joker as Bruce does with Batman after Chill, once she hops back into her cosplay she just becomes another mini-me.
