I watched the Christmas episode a couple nights ago. I remember it being so much more impactful when I was a kid. Like I remember the ending being a bigger thing but with an adult's eye it was a pretty quick and just serviceable. Still was nice, just I remembered it much differently. Funny how that works.

>From the pages of Jingle Belle comes everybody's favorite Texas firebrand! Master comics writer Paul Dini has set his imagination loose in the Southwest, and the result is Mutant, Texas, a town where several natural and nuclear disasters have irradiated the environment, giving strange new attributes to the inhabitants -- human, animal, and otherwise. This includes the pretty-as-pie, ginger-locked, good-time gal, Ida Red. A lady who can fly and shoot blasts of lightning from her fingers makes one heck of a sheriff, particularly when those crafty Kiyote Bros. are on the prowl! Join Dini and artist J. Bone for a brand-new adventure, taking you from Ida's youth to when she earned that silver star.

>>151891948I'm pretty sure that's not right like did Alan Moore thought that this Batman story he was writing and that was definitely being published was just gonna be treates as an ashcan special? A one-and-done? Don't trust his lies anon.
>>151892046Um. I literally said "he wasn't writing it under the assumption it'd be non-canon." If DC pulled the rug out from under him and said it had to be non-canon he might not have cared. But he sure as fuck started off thinking it'd be canon.
>>151892090Ok but why the fuck would you assume that makes sense? Or to put in another way, we know Alan Moore has an axe to grind and every reason to distance himself from the controversy of writing one of the most iconic examples of comic books using women as disposable tools to brutalize for the sake of the male characters.
>>151891615I mean, i guess? My argument was just that it was one of the few things from her stint as oracle that actually carried over, so its something wher ei dont quite see arguing that babs as ever written as batgirl that oracles pre-joker war.>>151891719Batgirl has a lot of good stories post 2003!
>>151892117>Ok but why the fuck would you assume that makes sense? What on Earth are you going on about? It was 1988. Moore was coming off Watchmen. He wanted to do a project with Holy-Shit-He's-Good artist Brian Bollard, they pitched a Joker story, DC said yes, he got to writing it, he had the idea to cripple Barbara and got permission, and was a bit surprised. What part of that sequence of events makes you go "bullshit"?

Now that the year is at its end, what did you think of Supergirl's comic run up until now? Did you find it fun? Did you find it lewd? Who's been your favorite character of the run so far? Also hitting someone with a frying pan is far more cartoony than a fire poker.>Pawbert on a scooter outside the windowI was gonna agree with you here, but then I thought about it and it makes sense. Iirc, Pawbert always intended for the snake to use his heat vision to uncover the secret on the cover. The snake also knew which room in the house full of snow and ice had a giant fireplace in it. So it's logical to conclude that Pawbert's plan was for the snake to snatch Milton, go to the fireplace room (and have Pawbert make a good fire beforehand), snag the journal, then leap out the window.>Mr Big slightly further down the hillThis one is fair. I didn't mind it, but it's kind of a lazy coincidence.>Nicks aversion to reptilesWhy would that be weird? Some people irl freak out at mice, or get uncomfortable around pet rats. I don't think his aversion is outlandish. It's not crippling either, it's just something that makes him uncomfortable.>Pawbert and the snek at the lodge to save JudyI'd say it was their hideout earlier, but iirc, Gary arrived in Zootopia the day of the gala from overseas, so it's not like he was hanging around for weeks filling the lodge up with evidence. So I agree with you here that them being at the lodge doesn't really make sense.
>>151889335>how does the lizard know that there is something under the paintHe was just theorizing, he didn't know for sure. He, as a reptile, would certainly be aware other reptiles can sense heat.>Judy is obviously watching the retelling of the story with the audience because she suddenly knows that the patent is hidden in the granny snake home. The fact that Pawbert knows the original patent is still out there means he'd tell Judy. I think the snake was arrested, which is why she only had time to hide it in her home. Still doesn't explain why no one else took the patent with them when they moved, but I guess she didn't have time to tell anyone (without the Lynxly hearing).>emergency exit dumping Nick and Judy at the foot of the mountain, exactly where they needed to beYeah that was fucking dumb.>Goats turning up at just that point to deliver just the right explanation about the flowers/lodge/climbing rope. That was silly, but it was also played as a gag, so it's not quite as bad. It also doesn't get Judy and Nick out of any danger, so it's not egregious.>The bag the snake is carrying has markers for the sole reason to draw the mapI don't understand the issue here. Isn't it also to carry his antivemon in case he bites someone?>How the fuck did they turn the wall on to have tundra town before 'expanding'None of these places existed when the walls were made. I think the snake village was buried under snow first, and the Lynxes expanded north.>No one seems to give a damn about the new tundra town expansion.Agreed. Already the 1 month anniversary of this fucking lynx stealing my heart and sewing my body and mind into the zootopiaverse fandom for life...Can't wait to see what Disney Zootopia merch I can ask for Christmas next year
Saw Zoo2 with the family earlier this week, they had not seen the prior film but my mom and dad really enjoyed it. I recommend we watch Z1 on Christmas day and they liked it a lot. Even their cat sat down in rapt attention; in the past the cat has responded well to animated dinosaur documentaries (specifically) but this was the first animated film and first non-dinosaur film he's paid attention to. I guess he likes how exaggerated the animals look? Has anyone else experienced similar with their own pets? I just think it's funny that Zootopia is what he chose to pay attention to, he doesn't respond to any other animal media on television (unless it is dinosaurs apparently).
