"I remember when I heard that Bill Watterson was attending a con and announced beforehand that he would not give any interviews or sign any autographs. I never understood this kind of attitude. Like it or not this is a commercial industry we're in and it carries with it certain obligations to the public. If you want to be a serious artist, go take up painting or something."

I love the entire concept of Abaddon being gapmoe because he still acts like a weird demon even when he looks like a boy, and in his true form he's STILL gapmoe because he's a big demon acting like a dramatic spoiled little brat.

It's still canon that Katherine's ex husband pimped her during their honeymoon

Idk I kind of imagine esther is like their dad and ben is like katherine. I feel like katherine pre divorce/hotel was a bit of a push over/self loather. She was like what ben could become then her hubby was a con man with no redeeming qualities unlike esther who cares about her family and friends. Kind of implied with how she seems to still blame herself for the divorce even though he seems like a terrible guy since he not even keeping track of his kids especially his literal 10 year old daughter who obviously messages him often.
>>151861760
I feel the gap moe dissipates a bit if he's not just a weird demon as a demon. Plus he has powers so he kind of can do what he wants

Why do actors in comic movies get so many repeat gigs?
Josh Brolin played Jonah Hex, Thanos, and Cable.
Brandon Routh played Superman, Dylan Dog, and Atom.
And so on.

At this point a lot of actors have been in a superhero movie. There's been a whole lot of them made even before the MCU.

It's not just capes, it was blockbusters in general.
Marriage Story wouldn't have been made if Adam Driver and Scarlet Johansen didn't get their massive Avengers/Star Wars payouts.
One thing about celebrities is they don't know how to live below their income bracket most the time so they need to constantly take big projects to pay for their lifestyle but something like the Avengers has such a big payout that they can go back to smaller stuff they wanna be in for a bit.
The problem is that those movies barely get time for exposure because theater chains are bullied by the companies who made the block busters to dedicate as many screens as possible to playing the blockbusters.
Remember that "Marvel movies are not cinema" interview with Martin Scorcese that everyone talks about. The core thing he spent most of that interview talking about was the theater chain shenanigans.

>Mixed to positive reactions.
>Runtime is around 130 minutes.
>Milly Alcock is great as Supergirl.
>Jason Momoa is great as Lobo. He teams up with Supergirl because he is chasing a bounty on the same villain Supergirl is after. He gets two action scenes.
>David Corenswet has an extended cameo as Superman. Flashbacks show when he first met Supergirl and they couldn’t communicate because he spoke English and she spoke Kryptonian.
>Supergirl’s origin is fairly close to the comics, where she survived Krypton’s destruction because he father created a force field around their city, Argo. They drifted through space for years until their life support system failed, and Supergirl’s father sent her to Earth to save her.
>The villain is underwhelming.
>The action scenes are okay, but nothing special.
>The plot is standalone and doesn’t set up any plot points for future movies.
>Seth Rogen makes a voice cameo as an alien space bus driver.

The Hercules one also had the giant advantage that James Woods came back as Hades cause of how much he loves the role plus the entirety of Greek Myth to draw from for characters, settings and threats. I've noticed the big advantage these shows have is just an absolute well spring of source material to draw from alongside just being spinoffs with actual effort put into them, though at the same time the Little Mermaid had a pretty great show with a large cast and interesting concepts without anything to draw from but the first film.
>>
>>151861027
I think the princess stories could be expanded similarly with creative freedom, it’s just more worldbuilding and engine building. There might have been other challenges to breaking them.
My feeling is Disney was stricter with changes to princess movies because they are the brand money makers. Adventure storylines are limited by tradition, after they fell in love in the first movie and are married now with obligations or kids - that is developed as the most natural next stage for the character, the writers arrive there regardless of sexism. Thereby limiting themselves to next gen and rehashing story. It’s boring but safe for Disney. I’d be surprised if they never tried to do more with those sequels early on in the process.
>>
>>151845976
Who's really to blame for it, though? The people who wanted to test the waters by releasing a sequel, or the millions who went out and bought the movie and gave the company the confidence it needed to pump out more, thus kicking off the trend? Think of how many awful practices would just disappear if everyone collectively stopped enabling them by giving them money.

>P1The four fuckwits are sitting there for their double date, when Tiff hears the word "date" and immediately yells at Jordan that she is not dating him and never will, so no, this is not a double date.
>P32Daisy is disappointed she isn't getting her double date, when suddenly the door bursts open and in sprints Amy carrying a weakly protesting Mike, screaming about how she found this cute boy lying on the ground half-dead from hunger so would someone get her new boyfriend a burger and fries stat.
>P3 Tiff takes advantage of the distraction to fuck off with Jordan following after first sniffing the seat like the freaky simp he is. Paulo and Daisy tell Amy they know Mike, so she slides into their booth and steals their fries to hand-feed Mike while asking them questions about Mike.
>P4 Lucy then reveals that she was in the booth behind them the whole time, because of fucking course she is, and starts insulting Mike, last panel is Amy looking angry.

They always make the case that it's the traumatized damaged people who make the best art, but they always forget the part where maladjusts are going to act like maladjusts.
Granted Gaiman is a bit of a hack in that regard who partially got where he was by pretending he was bestest friends with any writer he ever worked with and often aping credit on every collaboration he did with them.
>>
>>151861003
>how do we separate art from the artist in this case?
I don't give 1 fuck about the personal lives of creators. I barely care to hear about their thoughts on their creations.
>Especially when so much if his mature art was around women, their abuse and misogyny?
By not giving a fuck about the artist. Twitter was a mistake. Log off the internet.
Gaiman hasn't written anything good in ages. Why would you care about what happens to him now?

>tfw the theme of your movie is that even the old and the weak can make a difference in dire times but one of the “old and weak” characters you use to demonstrate that theme is the only adult sauropod in a herd of much smaller dinosaurs and she ultimately ends up solving the worst problems faced by the cast with her immense size and strength

Why was Baylene considered one of the “misfits” again?
16 replies and 1 image omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>151860194
Honestly that's true since they do a nice job of making Emma and Baylene solid characters plus having depth cause of their circumstances, I think my main issue is that Aladar and the twat lemurs drag things down a bit since they are really weak leads. Like there's an idea to how he could be an interesting protagonist and I think that the Noah draft of his character feels more compelling but in the actual film he just is so bland, unironically the silent Carnotaurus couple have more personality and characterisation without any dialogue.
>>
>>151862151
The largest marine reptile in the ocean wouldn’t have been able to even hurt the bigger sauropods. Hell goddamn prehistoric crocs had to go after young or weak and they shared a common ancestor with the mosasaurus.
>>
>>151862272
I mean the film already takes some paleological liberties with its depiction of Carnotaurus plus the Iguanodon having lips and usually accuracy is less of a priority compared to what's narratively dramatic in these dinosaur fictions. Mind you do have a point since when I went for size comparisons I couldn't really find anything showcasing exact real life measurements that'd have them exceeding or matching Sauropods but suppose that's why Littlefoot is kept a kid in the LBT films since can't really menace him if he's fully grown.

You’re not wrong. Although to give Kron the benefit of the doubt, when it came to situations like the dry lakebed, it’s not like he could have known that there was a huge reservoir of groundwater underneath a thin layer of dirt. He was justified in that moment in keeping the Herd moving, even if he was a dickhead about it. And even then, he still sent Bruton to see if there was still any water left nearby.

But now that you bring it up, it does makes me wonder how assmad he would have been if he knew that the only reason water was discovered to begin with was because Baylene had been in the right place at the right time. Aladar was in the middle of explaining that before he started pushing her and the others away from the watering hole created out of her footprint.
>>
I’m so happy to know that people still care enough about this movie to discuss it 25 years after its release.
It was my first introduction to dinosaurs
