Anyone else having a hard time enjoying this show? I mean, I love simpsons and all, but now that I'm older it's extremely mediocre at times. It's strange because when ever I caught an episode back then it always gave a surrealist feeling like a cartoon was breaking alot of boundaries I've never seen before.Now it's such a slog to watch. That one actually did have a story arc. It's very simple and nothing groundbreaking, the usual "underdog wants to prove himself and doesn't give up", but again, it's SOMETHING. I just saw the Galaxy movie earlier today and it doesn't even have this bare minimum. The brothers do nothing, stuff just happens for no reason and if there is ever any sort of roadblock it literally gets fixed in the next scene by an outside force that comes out of nowhere out of obligation to get everyone to the next location with more references. I'm not a hypocrite that says kids movies need to be high art, but that doesn't mean that any single work should not have at least some bare minimum effort put in.

Just came back for the theater.It was exactly what I expected, a by-the-numbers referencefest with barely any plot, just like the first movie (although that one had the benefit of novelty, and the fact I watched it for free probably raised my opinion a bit). The one thing that piqued my interest a little, Bowser's redemption arc, went nowhere, so that's nice, I guess.
