But X-Men fandom always had self-inserting lunatics who were into it because of The Metaphor, they just steadily got worse and worse over the years, until things hit an all time low with Krakoa, when OF COURSE it turned out there were even a load of polyamory freaks in the X-Men fandom.And most of the fandom who weren't "I am an IRL mutant stop oppressing me" were always people in a cult of personality around Claremont, acting like everything he didn't write was worthless (unless it was by a writer with his own fan following they couldn't ignore), and acting like everything would be fine if Marvel just brought Claremont back and let him do whatever he wanted.Even when X-Men didn't suck, X-Men fandom always sucked.

The thing making Nolan different is the deception involved, making trusting any attempt by him to reform difficult. I don't think this means that Nolan committed more atrocities or can't reform as much as vegata, just that you can't really know if he's for real if he does reform. Vegeta is evil but readable.
The deconstruction of superheroes is the most overused and predictable trope in comic book history. From watchmen to invincible, and all that crap inbetween by obsessed tryhards like garth ennis, warren ellis and rick veitch. How come this shit still sells, after 50 years of shameless uninventiveness?
