The contrast between watching a brash but well-meaning guy like Rin getting ragged on for every little flaw in-universe and really have to work hard to earn everyone's friendship, versus cold and logical Yukio flipping out and largely going ignored or being shown sympathy. It makes sense given the context, the aforementioned societal norms and the difference between what the audience is privy to versus the characters, but it's still tough to watch.

Rin also proved to him that he wouldn't be executed for having them, so I think that put his desires into overdrive. Like you said, the context is pretty sound. This episode was cathartic for some people because it's more evident Yukio resents himself for similar reasons.

One of which was a ton of stuff that was in a storage rental thing that a friend of the family had, and we cokel kept a few things in there in the middle of a move, but he passed away at some point, and we didn’t know who it then goes to (his mom had to put in a home, and later she also passes are as well), and we thought it incisive to call his sister and be like, “Yeah, so, we’re really sorry to hear that your mother and brother passed away s year apart, but do you know about that storage thing he rented and let us keep some stuff in during a move?” So, we just kind of let it be. It was so it of stuff, but just toys, like, house stuff (were were legit bit using it for storage, some of the stuff there was his usual stuff in storage, but he had a bit of space left there that he left us barrow that was supposed to be temporary). But there’ll that happens and we got a lot of the other stuff moved, we just kind, you know? Sometimes when a family moves, there’s a lot of stuff they mean to take with them, but then they wonder if they’re just getting the stuff out of habit, or if it’s something they actually needed/wanted. Ha, I still do wonder just how much money I could’ve gotten for some of the stuff now, just from my Star Wars stuff alone. I had that Slave 1 and Jedi Starfighter set, the one where the Slave 1 actually opens up and you can see the entire inside, and even had a cargo storage for bounties.

Go-Bots doesn't get enough credit for being one of Hanna Barbera's best cartoons of the 80s. Once you get beyond the stigma that it's a "Transformers Ripoff" (which it was never intended to be, both shows were developed independently based on different pre-existing toylines) the animation is fluid, the art direction is fantastic, the writing is entertaining and exciting, and the voicework is superb.
Wanna know how nasty Cy-kill is? He once shrunk the entire population of earth and put them into some glass globes and used them as hostages. When things weren't going his way, he simply crushed one of the globes and casually snuffed out 1/5 of the human species. it was a fake. The real globes had already been rescued, but Cy-kill didn't know that

It really seems like the perfect way to have handled both because it played to Hanna Barbera's strength with knowing TV animation, and because the competing GI Joe movie is structured so cleanly it feels like it was actually made with the intent to be diced up into five episodes for TV play later. Which would make sense, since GI Joe is another cartoon where the people made it had also quite the experience in the 5 parter department. Either way you can tell they bit off more than they could chew with the film in a sense, because it just feels like a long episode of the show you've always watched. But instead we live in the world where it was theatrical and so Rock Lords gets raked over the coals (pun not intended) because people have to once again compare to it Transformers... a match up that the film never intended and unfortunately is out of its weight class.But I don't think HB made any extra effort on their films until Jetsons... which of course, underperformed. I think all their movie animation did for the most part.
