Honestly with the Butcher argument j think you’re all missing the fact that Butcher was eventually gonna go after the supes regardless of what happened to Becky. There is always going to be something that sets him off. Maybe comic Noir still exists as another hero and rapes her anyway. Maybe it’s Jack from Jupiter killing Terror. Maybe it’s show Deep sleeping with her. Maybe Soldier Boy accidentally splatters something he cares about like A Train did to Robin. Maybe maybe maybe. Point is, regardless of the trigger the end result is the same. Butcher was always going to hate the supes because he’s a hateful man. Therefore changing Homelander is interesting because it shifts her role in the story

I'm not denying that Butcher's hatred for supes is, at the end of a day, a character flaw brought about from deeper issues. Ennis's Punisher is a very similar character. A broken man looking for an excuse to snap. But that doesn't change the fact that proportion is extremely important, and Butcher's backstory needs to be proportionate with his present day behavior

Why is peanuts seen as boring? Sure, it's not a laugh-out-loud comic with Calvin and hobbes but it's never as painfully unfunny as something like Nancy. It has some solid jokes, and even when they don't land, the endearing cast of characters is enough to make you smile.
