I might be a bad person, but without a doubt, I would have sided with Rourke and Helga on this one. Even knowing that Atlantians' lives depend on the crystal (which I believe evil guys didn't know), I find it hard to sympathize with the savages. There is an abundance of energy that my people could harness, unlike them. Why leave it? Also, if we have any chance of returning, the word about Atlantis will spread. In a few decades, someone else will have it, and as Ahnenerbe procures the most powerful energy source known to men, I will enjoy misery and defeat knowing I made the right moral choice. If we, on the other hand, have no chance of returning, that will be at the hands of the enemy I had to sympathize with for some reason.
This film is just so kino, as weak as the plot is. There's just something about 1999-2003 that will never feel old and dated no matter how much time passes
