What is the point of this trope?I guess to keep these attention of toddlers? It seemed natural in Shrek to add in some more pop culture songs and parody and gags. I didn't know almost every DreamWorks film added it after that.
>>152163810Like most corporate mandated decisions that are essentially follow the leader it's based on vague memes carried through the ranks originally started by extensive and expensive psychological tests on children that really only brought in "maybe they like a dance number"They have no fucking idea what they're doing when they're gauging viewers and most of the constructive criticism that save these shows come from a director or executive talking to their relatives or friends when they get back home. Which becomes a problem when you live a insulated elite lifestyle.

Dancing gets you to move your body since it's a form of exercise and you don't want your kids to grow up fat Japan does this all the time in their kids shows. Might as well make it fun and catchy

Tom King is bringing back Batman's Alfred Pennyworth, but only briefly, in upcoming issues of Wonder Woman.Explains his original intent behind Alfred’s death and its ongoing impact on Batman’s storylines.Hints at Alfred’s appearance in a Styx underworld storyline, reflecting on Alfred’s lasting legacy.Compares Batman’s supporting cast to Star Trek’s trio, emphasizing Alfred’s role in Batman’s psyche. In a candid moment during his appearance on the Word Balloon podcast with host John Siuntres, DC writer Tom King opened up about one of the most controversial decisions from his 2016-2019 Batman run: the death of Alfred Pennyworth.Bane's brutal neck-snap of Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne's surrogate father, confidant, butler and moral anchor, in front of Damian Wayne, was a bit of a shocker. It also looked like it was set up in a way which could have been reversed, a performance for Damian that relied on sight lines. But instead, Tom King was fired from the book, and DC Comics decided to stick with the newly established status quo, for seven years now. Tom King has previously explained the thematic intent, showing Bruce's maturity in his grief without breaking down, paralleling his parents' deaths. But courtesy of Tom King's Wonder Woman, we have just had a run-in with the young Jason Todd after his death in the underworld, meeting Steve Trevor… and there's more to come. "There is a Styx run in with Alfred. I got to hint that he's still out there. At least I got to do that because I was the one who killed him all those years ago. And nobody loves Alfred more than me. I adore writing that character. I don't know how you write Batman without Alfred. It amazes me that they've done it for so long."So anything beyond the river Styx? "I have no inside information. It could be another 20 years. I thought he'd be back in two months after I did it. It's shocked me that it's lasted this long."
I always forget he's even dead
And what does the relationship share with Star Trek? "I will say I think it's an easy Trek comparison. The reason I think a lot of Trek succeeds is because you have that trinity at the centre of it of Jim, Spock and Bones. And and and I think the reason a lot of Batman succeeds is that you have Alfred, Gordon, Batman. It's it's the two aspects of Batman's brain that are outside of him. like just like you know Bones is Jim's kind of human gut and Spock is his sort of logical side and that's almost one to one, like Gordon is is his is his overreacting human obsessive side and Alfred is more of his hesitation and logical side and it's just amazing that two of the things that have driven so much story have have this their center. It can't be a coincidence." It's notable that right after they killed Spock, they brought him right back. How long can DC Comics hold out? The Search For Alfred Pennyworth?

I'll start off. I actually like Ultimate FF. And I prefer the dynamic to the mainline book. I recognise that the stories themselves aren't better, but I think the core setup of a bunch of young adult supergeniuses with superpowers going on weird science adventures works for me far more than the kitschy sitcom family setup of the mainline F4. Especially with things like Franklin muddying the waters. Ultimate FF made everyone an expert in some field and had this feeling of basically being a modernised Star Trek starring people with superpowers. Again, the stories themselves cannot measure up to the classic main FF runs, but as a basis, the concept itself, I vastly prefer it. There was more excitement. They were younger, hotter, cooler. I could easily buy them as celebs. They were young enough to be unpredictable, but old enough to not be annoying teen geniuses. The book was essentially a cross between Star Trek, X-Files and dunno, something like Stargate. There was a playful element to it that you just can't have when you're dealing with a middle aged family. So yeah. I actually like Ultimate FF and think with some reworking the core concept works better than the mainline version. That's my extremely /co/ntroversial take. And Hell, I like Doom being a descendant of Dracula more than him being some random gyppo. The goat legs and mutation suck, but the backstory was a great update. I don't know, I think generally UltFF had all the right ingredients, but fucked up in the actual execution.
>>152160640>I like Doom being a descendant of Dracula more than him being some random gypponah
>>152162235> Doom lusting on SueLol. That's Namor.Sue in secret wars 2015 isn't 616 Sue.
>>152165547Plus he didn't do that on SW for lusting on Sue, it was just to stick it to Reed. He was petty af about it too since he thought Reed was dead for years by that point.
>>152165370>Ultimate Morbius is Dracula’s brother >Therefore he’s Doom’s distant uncle
>>152160640I'll do you one better. I liked Heroes Reborn F4. It was far and away the best of those books, which I admit isn't high praise, but Jim Lee was on point and it was interesting watching them try to connect so many classic F4 elements. I think it could have been very interesting had it not ended after a year and it's all the more interesting to think about in a post Ultimate Marvel world.

So... they announced a new Phineas and Ferb movie, the third one.• Premise: “Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s latest time‑travel experiment backfires, erasing the moment Phineas’ mom meets Ferb’s dad — meaning the boys never become brothers and every day is merely adequate. As reality unravels and the future hangs in the balance, Phineas and Ferb must restore the timeline before it’s too late.”The film is written by Kate Kondell & Jeff Howard (head writers for “Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur” who also contributed to “Candace Against the Universe”) and directed by Bob Bowen (“Candace Against the Universe”).https://variety.com/2026/tv/news/phineas-ferb-third-movie-disney-dan-swampy-1236631743/

>>152164431The fact that they still referenced Ferbnessa in Ferb's dream even though they had Vanessa continue her relationship with Monty while also not having her directly interact with Ferb the whole season makes me believe that they still haven't completely dropped the ship just yet.>Ferb x GretchenI don't think this ship has any canon backing but maybe.I'd like Gretchen to get a last name first tho

I know people like to clown on Verbalase for this, but I've got to give him credit for actually spending a reasonable amount of money on his commission as opposed to saying he'd pay the animator(s) in exposure.
