I would have loved a serious Sword and Sorcery animated series of Golden Axe.

The Conan movie, Seventh Son, and a few other scattered low fantasy movies here and there all underperformed. John Carter, in the closely related Sword and Planet genre, also bombed disastrously. The Scorpion King series degenerated into cheap direct to video trash immediately after the first movie. Hollywood will probably continue to take occasional stabs at serious S&S two or three times per decade until something works, then it'll be trendy again for a bit and some good S&S cartoons and videogames will come out. For now though it's a dead genre.

>>143271211Yeah it’s the same sort of game. There’s “3D” movement instead of Dragon’s Crown’s 2d movement but it lacks the cool verticality and fluidity that Crown has. Only real pickups are mounts, mana, and food. Overall I think the closest game to Golden Axe is probably Castle Crashers.
