My first memory of the show was being pissed the fuck off. I used to come how from school and enjoy Toonami, and the day that aired is when they switched over to Miguzi. I'm not sure if they had any ads or not telling people about the changeover, but if they did I missed it. I had a particularly rough day at school and was looking forward to coming home to watching so Toonami, and instead I got this Miguzi shit and it was airing Code Lyoko, the episode with the giant teddy bear.

God I was so fucking mad. It eventually grew on me and I ended up watching the show a lot, but I don't think I'll ever forget how mad I was at that first episode.

I liked Code Lyoko and the Miguzi block a lot. I’m a 1995 zoomer so I was still young when it came on but the 3D bumpers of Miguzi and the programming appealed to me and my best friend. We were neighbors in an apartment complex so his door was 4 feet in front of mine and he’d come over every day after school to watch shit like Totally Spies while talking about which one we’d date. I remember eating Chicken in a Biskit crackers and watching Code Lyoko one day. Don’t know why I remember that. Have nothing but good memories for that era of CN, much to boomers dismay.
I’m going through extremely stressful times right now and am probably going to be cut off from my entire family and remaining friends and currently don’t have any access to communicating with them, so at night when I sleep I put on 2004 CN and Miguzi broadcast with commercials to distract my mind and I won’t kill myself.
I wish I could go back.

A sequel, certainly. With how much technology has advanced since Lyoko first aired in 2003 I think a reboot would have to be almost unrecognisable from the original. For quite some time in my teen years (around 2002 - 2005), I had what we could call a "curse"; I was never, ever able to watch a show from its first episode, never. But guess what was the first Lyoko episode I saw? "Teddygozilla".
And here comes the fun part: with the type of story Lyoko had, I never tought that was the first episode!
As I said before, I wasn't used to the internet back then, so I never looked up the info. I watched the first season many times and never understood how I kept missing the first episode, until one day I finally had the brilliant idea to look up an episode list, so imagine my surprise!

Afterwards, until XANA Awakens was released, my mind filled the gaps of a first episode using "Garage Kids".

I was born in '96, I remember seeing this shit on the miguzi coming home from school, I'd watch it in my grandma's room with my sister after we came home from school while eating peanut butter on wheat bread. Okay so basically you know the big trend of 'Our heroes became miserable offscreen'?
The first episode would start by making you believe this happened, showing you Jeremie went full on Uncle Ted in a cabine in the woods, Ulrich is a depressed wagie at work and Odd is basically a recluse.
Then you got a XANA proxy who shows up and has a 'I knew that day would come' talk with Jeremie and then the bait and switch is revealed where you see Jeremie's situation was just a cover to trick XANA into a trap, Ulrich goes back home to a happy family with Yumi and just has trouble going up the ladder because he still spend time helping out Jeremie and Odd was just being an autistic artist who refused to leave his room until he finished his latest piece until Sam drag him out.
The XANA proxy get overwhelmed by Jeremie's trap until XANA assume direct control and with Aelita showing up to back up Jeremie, they are at a standstill.
Which is when XANA say he is there to strike a deal: Over the years he got over his 'animalistic' phase thanks in part to them destroying huge chunks of him which indeed the damages Project Carthage had inflicted on him (He's still shady and megalomaniacal but he seems to think of Aelita as his sister now like Franz had initially presented them to each others back when XANA was still normal).
But now XANA is getting competition with the rise of AIs, both naturally occurring ones online, corporate ones and military ones and he wants the Lyoko Warriors's help to take care of them.
At first Jeremie and the gang are like 'No way, the other AIs can't be more dangerous than XANA' until a bunch of those AIs go rogue at the same time (building up to the reveal that just like XANA, Project Carthage survived and just took a long time to repair itself as new tech developed).

So in addition to defending Lyoko and the IRL attacks (of which there can be more than one at once so they recruit Sissi, who's XANA's secretary and Jim, who's XANA's bodyguard who'd 'rather not talk about' the enhancement XANA gave him), they'd also have to attack other AI's worlds, which would require to activate a bunch of their towers so XANA can get in and go full DBZ villain on the territory and take control of the AI, thus protecting it from Project Carthage.

Evolution is basically its own canon since it retcons the timeframe from the the early 90s when Aelita got shoved in the computer to the early 2000s (like the original cartoon), and clearly seems to play with the events in that some stuff still happened as in the original show, but some things were different. I mean hell, they have an entirely different "Sam" from the one from in the cartoon, but treat her more or less as the same one, despite being race-swapped.

I would probably do it a bit like Dragon Ball Kai/Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, in that it still follows the general plot of the original, but trims some of the fat while adding some new stuff. Exactly what, it's hard to say since some things could have been explored more, like the William clone possibly getting a more conclusive ending instead of just being poofed out of existence like a wet fart.
