So if her village gets wiped out, you’ve already got the wide shot of her looking out at the absolute samurai carnage with her back facing the camera, and then probably a big picture of her kneeling down crying holding a bloodied loved one. Then as she investigates and enters the real world trying to become somebody, you have tons of opportunity for her to evilly look around the corner collecting information on her enemies. When she attempts to enter the samurai class, you’ve got the option of her failing to properly lift a man’s katana, or fumble with some woman’s weapon, and then later after time she boldly does carry it like a badass. I just free associate with the setting and character, and try to make up cool drawings and string them together with transitional pages. That’s just me though

I recommend, get a feel for space and depth by looking at artists and who have succeeded at what you’re trying, and emulate them for practice until you can use their techniques to make something comfortably your own. 500 pictures of Eva Unit-01’s poorly drawn face with misaligned eyes, just doesn’t cut it and does not tell a story, nor does cheap poorly drawn copies of the homestuck trolls doing nothing. Most of your ‘comic’ is text spent clarifying what the image is even supposed to be, because people can’t really tell just by looking. You can still do a spacey ethereal nebulous work while having a sense of space and technique, you should try it

In my opinion, to do anything less, is to be in the wrong field.
