Would have given more weight to her brother showing up and dying herself. Other idea I had for a final conflict between Jei and Usagi is if during the final confrontation Usagi dies but Jei is unable to land the killing blow, leaving him raging that he failed the one task he set out for himself and that he will never be able to properly join the gods. Like if it built up Jei having finally tracked down Usagi only to find when he gets there he has passed away from natural causes or from some sacrifice. That to me would be the most satisfying ending you can have to their conflict without Jei being permanently killed once and for all.
