>>143357901It’s a really baffling choice. The idea of the New 52 is it’s a good jumping on point. Regardless of your thoughts on The Court Of Owls story, it is good for secondaries. You don’t need to know all about Batman to get it, it pretty much explains itself well. Then they immediately follow it up with Death Of The Family, which presents this weird edgy Joker with no explanation and draws upon a ton of historical Batman comics. If you don’t know A Death In The Family, The Killing Joke, and Under The Hood this comic is basically indecipherable. You might say “but those comics are famous, everyone knows them,” yeah, comic fans know them. Imagine your only knowledge of Batman is Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, and then you decide to start reading the monthly comics. Court of Owls, okay, then this. It’s a baffling choice because it goes against the entire intended point of DC doing the New 52.
