Post comics that reference famous paintings.Stick to official art.
>>143537898This reminds me of this one painting.
>>143539091Never mind.
Batman Year One
>>143537898This will be a short thread.
>>143537898
>>143537898Alongside being excellent in general Interface does it a shitton. I could spent a lot of this thread posting examples from it, but I need to go to work first.
>>143539863Yeah. My threads don't last unless I post most of the images. Neglected this for a bit, and now I have to go.
Do you usually masturbate to art pictures and comics?
>>143541725Neat.
There's a reference to a Wyeth painting in a John Byrne comic. I'll post it later if the thread is still up.
>>143541180I remember a guy who hadthis tattooed on him but the actual painting
>>143543460You don't?
>>143545604Cool.
>>143544966Here it is. Last panel.
Quino
>>143547296I would not have picked up on that one. First panel looks like Christina's World too.
>>143547296>>143547694Here. Mostly because of the empty room and the open front door.
The Tick
>>143547657I don't know if that counts, since it's an actual artwork within a drawing.

>>143541180>>143541187>>143549501>>143549522Isn't this animation?
Is this the first instance of the Vitruvian Man used in a superhero comic?
The reverse shot of Velazquez's Las Meninas.
>>143552071And here he is painting King Philip IV as a Huntsman.
>>143552071>>143552086Neat. There's another comic about Las Meninas I think.
>>143551948Probably not.
>>143549893>>143549909Okay.
>>143545979Touchè
>>143554216Cool. Druillet did Escher too. I'll look for it real quick.
>>143555340Sort of.
You could make a whole thread of just Pieta references. Comic artists sure love this pose.>>143547657I never seen a Quino cartoon in any language other than Spanish. Neat.
>>143552833Yeah, The Ladies-in-Waiting, Fanta published it in English.
>>143539159>>143539091That reminds me. I need to get some more Cutty Sark.
>>143557369Reminds me of that Franco-Belgian comic with the shark on the cover. Anyone knows what I'm talking about?
>>143539159best version.
>>143559671Jerome Katzmeier. That's him.
>>143561050Known in France as Jerome Moucherot.
>>143560740What do you mean?
>>143557816Cool
>>143551948It might be. There was a character named The Vitruvian Man in 1987, but this is from 1986.
Webcomic but I'm counting it.
>>143564659Nice.
>>143537898son of batman
>>143566140Isle of the Dead?

>>143537898>>143545604"Peasant Wedding Feast" (c 1568) by Pieter Brughel
>>143566794>>143566140>>143566794There's a whole thread on bedetheque just dedicated to references to this: https://www.bdgest.com/forum/hommages-au-tableau-l-ile-des-morts-dans-la-bd-t101738.html
>>143568623what about these monsters? they look inspired by bosch too
>>143568635looks like it
>>143555340It's even a hint to how to interpret the issue itself. You're given four contradictory origins for Phantom Stranger, but are meant to accept all of them as true, like trying to take in the entirety of Another World without letting your eyes focus on a single element.
The hellscapes from Bissette and Totleben's Swamp Thing are full of little nods to Bosch and Bruegel. Couldn't find anything more overt than the guy in the upper left though.
And one from Foglio's Stanley And His Monster.
This reminds me of the Great Red Dragon.
>>143571852
>>143569834Sounds interesting. I'll give it a read.
>>143537898>Stick to official art.YEAH OP. STICK IT TO THE MAN!!!
>>143573762?
>>143568058Nice.
This thread could be better.
>>143571852>>143572480God, this is cool as hell. I'd never have spotted this. Do you think Ditko was consciously riffing on Blake here? A link between the two men seems entirely natural, considering how esoteric both could be
>>143575821Make it better then.
>>143576009I will.
>>143571852>>143572480Neat.
Dead.
>>143575821In what way?
>>143568635more horrors
The background and art style is based on Daybreak by Maxfield Parrish.
>>143580206I'm pretty sure I've seen this painting replicated elsewhere.
>>143546807give the noita the magic rock scrooge
>>143552086god that was such a good fucking comicstarts like a shitpost and then he drops that line>god, if you find reproach i'm my actions, i shall give you 3 reason why I'm who I am>hunger>hunger>hunger.
