It's a weird situation cuz he despises his character but also gets to air his general perversity through him.Bakshi's Fritz is a loser and charlatan but overall his view is much more sympathetic - as the movie's intro intimates it's really more about the nostalgia of growing up in the wildfire of the 60s, and being a dumb horny asshole trying to navigate life.
