or South American
or Franco/Belgian
or English
Let's face it, America fucking sucks. Puritanical culture, Comics Code Authority. They fucking suck outside their admiral (but considered jokes, today) outliers or indie comic artists that were always outside the two big evil corpos.

i think there's something about their upbringing, maybe learning the ridiculously huge alphabet, that makes them extremely good at line control and breaking items down into shapes. They seem to have some kind of innate grasp on 3d and how to represent it in 2d.

Name another example

Just looks like generic animeslop to me, OP
>>

It's really fucking funny that for the longest time, western artists seemingly hated people "drawing anime" because "you need to learn fundamentals from western art instead of drawing the shitty way the Japs do", but the Japs are great at drawing precisely because their fundamentals are so solid and "how to draw anime" weeb art just consistently sucks at this only because they aren't learning the way the Japanese do.

No, anon. Noone ever said that anyone needed to learn "fundamentals from western art" before they drew "anime". They said you needed to learn the fundamentals of drawing before they learned to "draw anime".

Even Gurihiru in the OP would agree with that. Because they certainly have that grounding.

Wait they started aging up the power packs? Since when? I used to read these all the time in middle school

That cover was a lie. A horrible, horrible lie to bait people into buying the issue.

All the best episodes of BTAS and STAS were animated by Japanese studios. Really, that country's artists hold supremacy in the 2D realm.

Damn this thread sucks

Because you're a pedophile

The cover is cute.
The inside art ... not so much.

>>144306946
The real problem was the comic looked nothing like the cover

Nothing a good pounding can't resolve

America once had some of the world's best sequential artists. We lead the charge in the young medium of animation and our comic books were read all over the world. Fantastic hard working draftsmen with excellent line work and a solid understanding of anatomy created the very language of comics that is now often misunderstood or completely ignored. Wally Wood, Steve Ditko, Jack Kirby, Alex Toth, Will Eisner, and many others would be deeply confused by modern comic book art, though some they might respect or even appreciate, but most of it looks like ass compared to what they could do by hand on paper with rulers. Too much emphasis is put on digital coloring and the pencilers aren't as good at panel layouts and composition as the old working class schmucks who had no high falluting ideas about their jobs and mostly did it for the paycheck.
The Japanese I have mixed feelings about. Lone Wolf and Cub is a masterpiece of inkwork and cinematic panelling. Murata is a master with a quill pen. Some manga looks too fucking clean, though. Too sterile and empty. There isn't enough humanity in a lot of purely digital works. I couldn't read Golden Kamuey for that reason. For what it's worth, superheroes are fucking stupid and the Big Two have driven the comic book industry into the ground with amoral business practices. The whole world of comics is dying because those faggots sold their souls to corporate satan and now we're living with the consequences. For every Eric Powell or Mike Mignola there's an ocean of half assed hacks, shitty writers, and brain dead editors.

Comics are a dead medium that pays like shit. The good artists are working in film, tv and video games.
>>
>>144308900
All three are broken, creatively bankrupt industeries.

Is Rem American or Japanese
>>
>>144306946
Americans are obsessed with ugliness is why
>>
>>144306946
>good art
>>
>>144306946
Around the middle of the 20th century, it became fashionable in the West to reject traditional ideas of beauty and challenge them by deliberately making ugly art. Later generations just accepted that attitude without really thinking about it.
