After the show, he also worked as a consultant for Fred Seibert at Hanna Barbera, so he had a strong connection there. As you can see on the packaging, this is a Cartoon Network and Hanna-Barbera product. The fact that John was a huge Flintstones fan and highly respected (at the time) cartoonist made him a natural fit for commentary.
