Death Dealer is the name of one of his fantasy paintings that has since served as the inspiration for a number of comic series (and books). In most versions he is a warrior who wears a possessed helmet which gives him certain strengths and transforms him into the Death Dealer.

The newer series makes him too human. Just a normal-ish guy with a magic helmet. In the Verotik series he is literally just a force of nature. In the Image series there are notes of humanity but he is still just treated as the literal manifestation of death.
