One of the many, many failed attempts to turn Ghostbusters into a marketable franchise; a dream that continues to this day, with very much the same results.

but what the fuck is the deal with ugly character design? why was there a time when they thought it is cool to draw everything super ugly?
like Slimer used to be a fun character, now he is super hideous. The goth chick is weird, weird goatee dude looks like a meth addict, wheel chair dude gets cut off on every picture and black guy is almost the only normal looking one even though he got big fat N lips and I bet nowadays people would complain.

This show would air together with the MIB cartoon and the Godzilla cartoon and I have to admit they all felt the same which is weird. Like same style and attitude and what the fuck was this even?
Were there more shows like this? It is just strange.

>This show would air together with the MIB cartoon and the Godzilla cartoon and I have to admit they all felt the same which is weird. Like same style and attitude and what the fuck was this even?
Because... they were all made by the same studio?
>>
Can you imagine the seething if this came out today?
>>
>>144322649

>>
>>144322649
Pretty good show
Xenobite episode was spoopy.

>REEEEEEE UGLY AND WEIRD
yeah this is either a bait thread or op is zoomer weeb trash.
>>
Yeah how on earth did they manage to make Slimer, a deformed ghoul made of snot, look less cute. It's crazy man.

I imagine the rule 34 of Kylie would be extreme!
>>
>>144322739
Understandable, since it's canon that Garrett date-raped and impregnated Kylie while she was possessed by Slimer.
>>
>>144322734
were they thought? i would not know. looks like modern Klasky Csupo as in Klasky Csupo also always drew hideous and ugly characters.

so what studio was it and what else did they do?

>Captain N

what does the N stand for?
Captain N also was not that hideous also the character design in Captain N fucking sucks. The Princess is hot but Mega Man looks fucking shit and so does Simon Bellend. This is not good character design to be proud of but rather to be ashamed of. So why is that knob based in any way? This word gets thrown around without meaning.

>>144322876
the question is just: WHY? why did it have to turn ugly?
>>
>>144323088
The N stand for Nintendo you dumbass zoomer
>>
A damn sight better than it had any right to be.
>>
>>144322649
A dam good show that respected what came before it while forging it' own path. Didn't rely on old ghost coming back with the exception of one, the team had to learn to work together with their flaws, and it provided the right amount of spooks to give a child the creeps.
But sadly, also this >>144322681

Did you know that in the 90s and early 00s, cartoons were diverse as fuck and no one cared because the writers prioritized character and story writing over preaching divisive twitter politics?

Extreme Ghostbusters only acknowledged the first few seasons of RGB. Still wish that they made a take that to the Slimer! seasons.

A great Ghostbusters cartoon.

In a good way though.

anon these shows are almost 30 years old.
>>
>>144322649
Klasky Csupo's least ugly cartoon. I still wouldn't have hired them to do it.
>>
>>144322876
The first few eps made him look like a green klansman with a bent hat.
>>
>>144323098
Some idiots refer to the character as Captain Nintendo.

>writers prioritized character and story writing over preaching divisive twitter politics?
How dare they?
>>
>>144323861
>I still wouldn't have hired them to do it.
Good news, they weren't. Learn to google.
>>
>>144323154

You were 6 years old. People online bitched about political correctness all the time. There was just no centralized internet or video to rally people together under clickbait.

>chain smoking voiced Mega Man
It's strangelly alluring, erotic even to hear it speak.

It's amusing to me that EGB is arguably more New York than the original GB movies.
The original Ghostbusters movies have a distinct NYC atmosphere, but it's one only well off people and Jews would really know. Niche little college departments specializing in bullshit classes, high end apartments, orchestras, expensive restaurants. No one treats any of those things as different or special because the main cast is so locked in their own bubble and mainly interacting with other people in their social strata. Winston stands out as the one more working class guy in the movie. Otherwise it's the NYC of Woody Allen movies.
EGB is the New York the average person on the street would see. Even down to the cast being from different walks of life.

>Even down to the cast being from different walks and rolls of life.
fix'd
>>
>>144324324
Being fair the Ghostbusters are more or less Ghost Exterminators so the comedy is these shlubby dudes interacting with higher society and the personality clash like the hotel sequence or butting heads with the Mayor or the EPA guy.

Extreme Ghostbusters is an American animated television series, based on the Ghostbusters franchise, which initially aired from September 1 to December 8, 1997. A sequel to The Real Ghostbusters, which aired from 1986 to 1991 on ABC, Extreme Ghostbusters is set after that series' finale, and featured a team of college-aged Ghostbusters led by veteran Ghostbuster Egon Spengler.

Don't lie to me fags, this was sexual awakening for some of you.
>>
>>144324374
The thing is, even the GB themselves have the Woody Allen movie thing where the protagonists are almost LARPing as normal, working schlubs when they have much better jobs and are better off than most people. The Ghostbusters work in academia in a position where it's implied they aren't really that busy, and the original push as to why they become ghostbusters is their funding(and thus, cushy jobs) being taken away. They're in the lowest tier of a high end academia position..which is still better off than most blue collar workers. But comparative to other people in that strata they interact with, they come off as losers.

This isn't me saying I dislike the original movies(or Woody Allen movies), I just think it's interesting that it's NYC as presented by people from two different perspectives.
>>
>>144324437
It was nice, but my sexual awakening was the time Lois Lane got turned into eldritch abomination in Superman the animated series.

Wtf was WRONG with Egon? He was like 35 and complaining about his body falling apart. Mild nuclear radiation poisoning?
>>
>>144324594
>He was like 35
Harold Ramis would've been 52 in 1996, assuming he and Egon were the same age. Egon also mostly worked a job with little physical work eating twinkies and snack food until he was in his late 30's, did GB work for a few years, then went back to mostly just working as a professor in the years leading up to EGB.No wonder he was out of shape.
Hell it wouldn't be uncommon for a 35 year old who doesn't do much physical exercise to feel like they're falling apart.
>>
>>144324594
More like 55
>>
>>144323973
nta but there absolutely were centralized places to talk about cartoons and no, no one cared.
>>
>>144324642
>little physical exercise

Dude, those packs weighed like 80lbs, and frequently these guys were sprinting in full gear, sometimes up stairs.
>>
>>144324472
Oh certainly, I'm perfectly aware they aren't really working class for most of the movie. Well save Winston, though I do think they lean into it better by Ghostbusters 2. Also reminds me to shill Downtown.

>>144324374
That is because EGB takes place in the 90's/Early 2000 So like the Movies+Game canon the Ghostbusters ended in 1992 after they did their job too damn well, but instead of Egon chasing off Gozer and taking everything without telling the others, he settled in with Janine and became a renown college teacher with the others pretty much going by the new movie has shown.
>Ray went back to supernatural stuff
>Pete went back to TV
>Winston went back to work with investments

Which is quite a coincidence.
>>
>>144324689
Yeah and Egon had stopped doing it regularly for years by then. Don't keep up and your body starts to fall apart. The RGB versions were probably more active than their movie counterparts, but Egon still probably enjoyed his twinkies.

Possibly. Those proton packs ARE unlicensed nuclear accelerators, after all.
>>
>>144324680
Anon, I was there and there were people on places that shat on it for being "PC", mainly Gen Xers who grewup with 80's Ghost busters.
>>
>>144322649
Those characters look 1000x better than shit like bob's burger or any of these 'modern' slop cartoons.
>>
>>144322727
>like Slimer used to be a fun character, now he is super hideous
dumb secondary watch the fucking movie
>>
>>144325376
We KNOW that. He was added to the cartoon in the first place to help establish a connection to the movies, since the actors didn't want the animated characters to look like them. Rgb cleaned him up...egb fucked him up again.
