Which episode did you think was a point when the show jumped the shark?
For me it’s this or the fist episode.

Not even FOP had the balls to parody SP, what the fuck?

Funny enough, Arthur also parodied South Park.

>>144333569
I know, that's why I think it's shocking when the furthest FOP ever went was The Simpsons.

Is Arthur actually worth watching? I remember watching it as a kid obviously but occasionally I'll see something from the show posted that's actually interesting or funny but I don't know if that's just a small percentage of the show and the majority of it is boring toddlerslop or if it's enjoyable even if you aren't a kid.

>>144333639
Avoid the Flash seasons and you'll be fine.
>>
>>144332486
I still don't know why they would parody those shows only to get into trouble later for leading them to it.
>>
>>144333639
It's a fucking kid's show from PBS. What are you, stupid? No it's not good to watch as an adult unless you are seeking to expose kids to the media you were exposed to. It isn't like there's mountains of humor that only adults would get like Rocky and Bullwinkle where it's way funnier as an adult. It's PBS, everything is either educational or moralistic.
>>
>>144333673
Wasn't Word Girl an exception? It's literally made by Soup2Nuts.

Arthur is worth watching for the memes alone

I thought it was funny that Word Girl, like Dr. Katz Professional Therapist, Home Movies, and Bob's Burgers, would have the stand up comedians as the guest voices.

The only little kids show I actually like is Yo Gabba Gabba and that's just because I liked when the indie landfill was still the indie goldmine.

Strange taming, indeed.

Arthur is good because it can actually go into depth in its writing and do really weird stuff with its dream sequences in ways you don't get with Hollywood. It's not made to sell you stuff, so Trotsky-orcs like >>144333673 react poorly because the work itself is fun without being an advertisement.

Faggots will seethe over an objectively correct statement. The show has the same entertainment value it has when you were 8.

Nice thumbnail

This is true and there's nothing wrong with that. It was a product of its time that aimed at a young audience, and it did it well. There's no need to revisit it as a grown adult, just let it be a memory.
>>
>>144334300
What are you talking about? Arthur was an advertisement for the book series! I'm sorry I hit you in the nostalgia button, I'm not coming for your place of security and warmth. I just don't believe children's TV hold up unless it was made with the kids and parents/guardians in mind. Because you're not 10 anymore and you're not supposed to be either.

Literally from the same episode.

Have you ever watched Arthur? That shit was the best written thing on PBS kids. If it weren't for the stigma of being technically edutainment, it gives similar shows like pic related a run for its money.

Somehow more vulgar than the actual Sopranos.

It's weird to see Arthur dressed so sophisticatedly.

Arthur's one of those weird shows where I remember it being a kiddy kiddy show since it was on PBS, and it most certainly is meant for little kids to be fair, but then you see stuff that was more hardcore than I remembered
The Beavis and Butthead and South Park references mentioned earlier are part of it, for whatever reason my brain can't reconcile Arthur doing that even though I watched that episode and several others almost religiously as a kid.
I think because it was surrounded by shows like Clifford the Big Red Dog and Dragon Tales.
Like, to put it another way
>>144334594
If Arthur dropped its more edutainment aspects and was written as a straighter TV-Y7 show, it would have cleared most other kid shows of that era easy.
Most of the parts people remember though are bits and pieces where the writers snuck in a little extra, and it's a pretty conventional adaptation of a 2nd grader-level series of books otherwise

I chuckled
>>
>>144332486
As far as any show goes, even for a kids show, Arthur managed to maintain its charm til the very end. That’s rare, even for something on PBS. And I’m glad that they had it in them to end the show when they did.
